The Green Monster

I just bought tickets for a KC Royals weekday game from Seatgeek.com. Great prices. Don’t know how you will make out for a weekend Yankees game but it is worth a try. Good luck
Edit. Sorry I now read all the comments and have seen you scored some tickets. Hope your kids have a blast. Fenway is Magical

I spent numerous evenings/afternoons in the $1 bleacher seats during my time at NU in the late '70s. Would get to the gate early enough to grab front row seats in center field.

And beach balls, don't forget bringing the 25¢ beach balls

A few of the old timers here remember the .50 bleacher seats. Regular tickets ran about $1.75 or so....Late 50's.........

A couple buddies and I flew from Texas for the Patriots-Texans season opener last year after catching the Astros-Red Sox game Saturday night. Great town and great trip.

As Andy said, I can't imagine you're going to find Yankees-Red Sox tickets without a huge markup, and tickets on the Green Monster are the worst. What you could do possibly is buy 3 "cheaper" seats, and set up a tour of Fenway Park for before the game. (Not sure where to look online, one of the other guys set it up) Part of the tour is sitting on the Monster during batting practice after standing on the field behind home plate and having a chance at some autographs. In fact I would suggest the tour regardless of where you sit, it's a pretty amazing ballpark.

I'm not sure how long you'll be in Boston but if you have an extra day and your kids are old enough to appreciate history, I HIGHLY recommend walking the Freedom Trail. It starts in the oldest city park in the United States, and the one of the sites along the way is a cemetery where Paul Revere, Sam Adams and John Hancock are buried.

Good luck and enjoy your trip.
I might add, take a duck boat tour. Sounds cheesy, but I recommend it to all my friends who come to Boston for the first (or 2nd) time and have never had an unhappy customer. Besides you and your kids are Pats fans. Duck Boat rides are in your blood. ;)

Actually in the early 60's you could STILL get unreserved grandstand seat in left and right field for $.75. They were a better deal than the bleachers because by the 5th inning you could sit in a box seat most of the time.

Back in those days you could literally take the T and see a game for a dollar (as long as you were willing to take along a few life saver rolls for nourishment. ;)

Thanks for all the help and responses. Was able to get (3) standing room only seats in the Monster for the Saturday afternoon game. Will try to do the tour also. At least we can say we were there.

Great news. Enjoy.

I despise Price.

What an emotionally fragile, hyper-sensitive, winey, insecure, rabbit ear wearing doochbag.
He's a great pitcher but what a weird thing to do over such a benign and factual comment that eck made

I remember those days and getting seats in the RF grandstand. I can still picture Jackie Jensen standing in RF. Where did all those years go?

$3

Are you 115 years old? ;)
60.. They signed Campbell in 1977, my senior year of high school... We had "open campus" back then where you could sign in and out to go to McDonalds, an internship or sneak off to Fenway.....

Funny you say that… My dad went to game six of the 75 World Series and I saw the ticket stub the other day. Four bucks.
He must have been sitting in the bleachers. Our seats cost $15.
My brother got to go to the World Series in 1967 when Lonborg threw the one hitter. Box seats were $12.

My stub is $15 too, I'll try and grab a pic. I remember going to a doubleheader against the Tigers, sat in the bleachers had a couple dogs and a few beers and might have spent $20 for the day. Now its $40 to park.

I think Mazz is on to something.

One memorable Fenway memory. Early 1982, cold April night versus Orioles, maybe 10,000 people there, bleachers are empty, nearly so. Disco Danny Ford is Orioles right fielder and he had posed nude for Playgirl a year earlier. We heckled him mercilessly, nothing profane but we busted his chops and it was so quiet we knew he heard us.. Second out of the inning and he runs in thinking it's the third out....not so fast.. Rather than turn around and face us, he walked backward nearly from first base to his position in right field...He definitely couldn't wait for that game to be over...

Well I guess not everyone is RICH like you guys ;)
The seats were comped... My dad owned a tire dealership and the distributors wanted to keep them happy so they doled out tickets for high profile events. We were lucky enough to score the ones for game 6...

$3 was for a night or weekend game. In the early 70's during the week day games were the norm. Bleacher seats were $1 with a student id (IIRC $1.50 without) and a beer was 50¢. Not a bad deal for spending the afternoon day drinkin' and batting beach balls around with the coeds that went there to sun themselves. The hardcore Fenway Faithful called us the Bleacher Creatures but man those bleachers were the place to be. It was a 15 minute walk from Northeastern to Fenway, usually took considerably longer to stagger back o_O

Different times.

You could smuggle in a bottle of booze and nobody would rat you out. They would ask for a belt. Fighting was the court system and settled all grievances.

We had 4 upper box seats in line with 1st and 2nd base in 1978. I think it was section 13. They cost $12 each and the lower box seats were $14. If you came up from the concession area you'd come to the main aisle that runs completely around behind the lower box seats. We would take a left and another left and there we were, 4 rows up from the main aisle with our own row of 4 seats, just high enough to be able to see over all of the people walking by. Everything was perfect except for the ending of the season.
