Happy 4th of July

I guess Veteran's day is redundant.
I scratch my head every time. A lot of people don't seem to understand that:
Armed Forces Day is to honor those currently serving,
Veteran's Day is to honor those that have served and are still alive, and
Memorial Day is to honor those that gave the ultimate sacrifice while serving.

The 4th this year set off the biggest political football game by the media I can ever remember....and the fireworks scared my dog last night

Going to the Macy's 4th of July fireworks show is on my bucket list ...
What an amazing sight it is ... this years was the biggest ever.

Evidently some parts of NE are very different because we always had military marching in our 4th of July parades. This country is great because of freedom and freedom is sustained through a strong military.

Many times we went to Fort Devens on the 4th to watch the cannons go off. Nobody had a problem with that to my knowledge but we do live in sensitive times today.

Independence Day is about celebrating the principles upon which the founding fathers gave birth to the United States of America by issuing the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. Extrapolating that to emphasizing the military is wrong. Yes, sometimes military figures are included in Independence Day celebrations as a patriotic gesture to those who defend those principles, but that is peripheral to the holiday's intent.

Look who it is.

The 4th is about the celebration of US patriotism. There is no greater love or expression of patriotism for one's country than serving in the military.

Furthermore a militia called the Patriots went to war and defeated the British Army to form this great country to start with. The military has always been included in 4th of July festivities.

Memorial day is for the dead and the 4th for the living.

feel so lucky to be born in this great country.....love it or leave it

Don't love the state of things but I'll stay. I've given my pound of flesh and earned my right to be critical.
