Rereading the Pittsburgh postgame thread from last year

Last year watching Steeler fans at home hopelessly waiting long after their final game was over to see if they could back into the playoffs only to not make it warmed my heart.

Whenever I want a good laugh, I go back and read posts from all those people who wanted to keep Garoppolo.
Sheesh ... I was thinking Michael Bishop.

I'd love to see some of these posters function in real life...

At least 75% of what the Patriots do is good. Even if the other 25% is bad, you're still getting a 3-1 good to bad ratio. I can't, for the life of me, understand why people would bash this team.

If we went 6-10 the next 12 years, we'd still be well above 500 for the last 24 years. I imagine a retrospective GDT is more entertaining than an "in the moment" GDT.

They were so excited that the fans were talking about home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Then they lost to the Saints in the next game, and the season was basically done. It was a viscous turn of events in one week.
And it seemed like a vicious turn for us the week before. I have admitted on this board that after the Miami game (not the Steelers game, although that one blew too) I thought we would make the playoffs, but not be able to win on the road. I did not, however, say that in a game day thread, which I avoid like the plague. So glad I was so wrong.

Some of it was just the same old doom and gloomers. Yet, some were good fans just pointing out that this team is not at the level to win a championship. Nothing to see here. They turned it around and won the whole damn thing.

Definitely a lot of caption possibilities with this pic

After the "Trade Brady" thread of yore, these dead threads/incorrect predictions pale in comparison.

I will always go with optimism with BB and TB12 on the team (I won't promise that after they leave, because I did not have that in my 20+ years of viewing before they showed up), but for the realist/pessimist crowd the Pats gave plenty of cause for concern in 2018.

I wouldn't call the concerns off base just because the season ended well. Unlike the advocates of dumping Brady in the aforementioned thread, a few titles ago, some of the criticism was deserved. The Pats were still searching for chemistry, and do not typically do that so late in the season as that is usually typified by the best football and win streaks.

There are no “good” losses. If there were, the Steeler game was one. The defense began to jell (too much made of Pittsburgh’s rushing numbers) and the team competed hard. I remember 2 things out of that game - the defense was improving and we were extremely healthy. Both of those set up a championship run.

Brady turtled. Brady is mentally shot. Houston would destroy us. Team is broken and can’t be fixed this year. Along with the usual “Josh is an idiot - fire him” and “We need a real GM”.

Sounds like any live thread in general and most post game threads after a loss then.

LOL, I don't know how people deal with the GDTs. I tried it once and lasted for about 1 quarter. I can't even deal with my own emotions on game day, let alone those of hundreds of others, particularly folks who are more "up and down" than I am from play to play.

Nothing will ever beat the theory that was circling around after SB 52 which stated that Belichick wanted to trade/make Brady retire, instead Kraft vetoed it and Belichick deliberately lost SB 52 to spite Brady and Kraft.

If I watch a Pats game at a bar will it be better or worse than the average GDT?

I stay out of GDTs as a rule. I just don't want to get wrapped up in online stuff while I watch.

Someone in that thread said they wouldn’t be surprised to see the Patriots Run the table after that loss. I’m trying to remember who that could have been..........

Shocking that the king of trash talking Belichick's personnel choices isn't exactly keen on having their past words used against them.

The same poster wrote an extensive position by position post to start a thread about how Belichick the GM had ruined the entire roster after the KC loss in 2014.

Same as with any social media. Ignore the bad and only look for the good. Worst case, have some fun and add a little humor.
