NBA Draft - Trades - Free Agents

You are right, for some reason Kanter outplayed Adams in the Portland OKC playoff series (although Adams was hardly the only problem), but make no mistake, Adams is a far superior center, that is why Kanter (who was older) was let go by OKC in favor of Adams. I think Kanter is a good addition at his bargain price, because he can get hot and really be an offensive force. The problem is that he is so bad defensively, teams that decide to go at him can run up the score on him. He is best used as a “heat check” guy off the bench when a scoring center is resting on the bench.

I hope we can find a center that can play some defense to compliment him. If so, the Celtics could make some noise this year.

You’re taking an individual aspect and running with it ... In the end, it wasn’t like Horford was stopping anything....he’s a more consistent rebounder than horford was.

But yeah, we could probably use one more big.

I will say Kanter at his number is much better than Horford at his....and it’s not close....Kanter has a reason to put an effort in....he will be 28 when he can exercise his player option next year.

I like the Kanter move:

a.) Only 2/10M with player option in year two. He could be gone next year if he performs well.

b.) Watched him a lot during the playoffs with the Blazers playing the end of double headers here in CA. Good rebounder, hustles, and a decent scorer. His D is problematic though....I think even Baynes had quicker feet. He won't do well vs. Giannis/Embiid...but he'll show heart which is what we need.

c.) I am not even sure he can play in Toronto without security.....could be a minor problem.

d.) Williams (Time Lord), Williams (Grant), Kanter, Theis, Yabsuele, and Falls... we are gonna need a lot of good perimeter D and fast breaks to off-set this liability, IMO.

They don't have a starter level player to play center. Whether or not they have a starter level power forward is an open question.

I am absolutely thrilled at his addition for such a bargain price. And, Horford was such a valuable contributor to the Celtics that nobody wants to say this: but what the 76ers are paying him is a vast overpayment, if not next year certainly in the last year.

When he was in OKC, it just depended on the matchup. If there was a scoring center (or scoring big power forward) on the other team, Kanter might be a DNP or have few minutes because of his defensive liabilities. For other teams that didn't a scoring big, sometimes he wasn't exposed too badly on defense and if he got hot he could look like a MVP candidate for brief stretches on offense.

So for the bargain price I love the addition of him, he can contribute against teams without a scoring big or off the bench when the scoring big is on the bench resting. However, the Celtics still really need a defensive big for games against scoring bigs like Embiid, they will go through Kanter like a hot knife through butter.

Jimmy Butler deal is complete with Heat -- with Clippers added as a fourth-team in trade that also includes Philadelphia and Portland, league sources tell @ZachLowe_NBA and me.

Maurice Harkless is on his way to Clippers in the deal, league source tells ESPN.

Miami is also sending a future first-round pick to the Clippers, league sources tell ESPN.

The Sixers get Miami's Josh Richardson in the deal, too. And ... Jimmy Butler gets his four-year, $142M max deal.

So the Clippers get a future first-round pick to take on Harkless, who is another starting level forward with significant playoff experience to surround -- potentially --- Kawhi Leonard.

Golden State is moving Shabazz Napier, Treveon Graham and cash onto Minnesota, league sources tell ESPN. Napier and Graham are part of the D'Angelo Russell sign-and-trade.

NBA is a joke..who wants to root for these aholes?? A bunch of me first jerks..

The players are making these choices because they’re allowed to. The NBA’s player’s union did a way better job of collective bargaining than the NFL’s did.

CBC* and PFBC* seems to be the plan.

*BC = By Committee

The reddit rumor mill is saying Kawhi to LAL. If true that’s a more laughable super team than GSW. Three of the top five players in the league.

The NBA is making money hand over fist. The owners are ok with the arrangement.

3/5ths of the league's top players on one team hasn't happened in 60 years (Cousy/Russell/Sharman)

Heat get Butler and get rid of Whiteside. Great moves because I don’t think that either of them could coexist in the same locker room. Now they’re going to have to shed Dragic’s salary and hopefully bring in Beal.

I may be proven wrong during SL, but I have high hopes for this dude. I think be makes the roster.

Probably would have been a top 5 pick back in the 90's.
