Fcking A. Loved that guy

Anyone who hasn't seen this game, you gotta watch.

I remember Ben Coates as a top end receiving weapon, but until I saw the Miami game replay, I didn't quite recall how sharp his routes were, how great his hands were, how blazing fast and powerful he was, and how clutch he was. He was unbelievable.

He had that transcendent 1994 season, and probably was at the height of his powers for only a few seasons. But for that period there was nobody in history more dangerous than that guy.

Also this Miami game showcased Bledsoe, who looks all-world though you can already see his tendency to throw bad picks. Highly entertaining watch.

Didn't Ben Coates fumble that costed the game. If I remember it right.

He was like a BIG Cat.

There was a bar in San Diego where I was living at the time hanging a banner that read, "New England Patriots games shown live every week". I read that just as the 1994 season was about to start. I suddenly had firm plans for Sundays that fall...and every fall thereafter. Satellite TV in bars...whoda thunkit?

And what a first game at my new Sunday morning hangout. Watching young Drew battle the mighty Dan Marino in a high scoring QB duel. And who the heck was this Ben Coates that was single handedly destroying the Miami secondary? Good God this season was looking promising despite the L at the end of this game.

I'll always remember this game fondly.

Regards,
Chris

Oh you mean the Irving Fryar game.
211 yards 3 TDS.

That must still be in the top 5 games of combined passing yards in a game, 421 for Drew, 473 for Dan, 894 total.

Wasn't the 2011 game where Brady three for 517 and Chad Henne (of all people) threw for 417 the combined record? Not sure if it has been broken.

edit: I see the new record is 1,000:

Watching the game now . Into the second half. Observations: 1) huge shoulder pads, 2) despite final passing yards, lots of running by both teams early, 3) mother of god was Marino a f###### complaining dips### to the refs and, particularly, his teammates 4) Kevin Turner was some player...

My favorite Ben Coates game is vs Giants in 1996. It was my brother and I at TGIF's doing some catching up over a few beers and the game was on. Ended up doing little catching up and more "wow what a game" stuff. haha
