Well he's pissed off some fans right out of the gate.

McCown’s top-five NFL WR’s are as follows:
1-Julio Jones (Atlanta Falcons)
2-Michael Thomas (New Orleans Saints)
3-Odell Beckham Jr. (Cleveland Browns)
4-Julian Edelman (New England Patriots)
5-Mike Evans (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

In terms of value to the offense? Absolutely.

This team has won without Gronk but without Edelman it gets much, much harder. He's definitely the most-important non-Brady cog in making our offense function, especially in crunch time because by then he's usually trying to make up for a ridiculous drop earlier in the game and pulls some serious rabbit out of a hat stuff.

I mean if you judge WRs by jump balls and back shoulder fades and fly routes and **** then he's not in the top 20. But in terms of pure importance? I mean without Jules kiss the 2014 and 2016 Lombardis goodbye.

He probably took into account that the player is not a total douchebag. Although Hopkins deserves to be on that list.

Sexy plays vs. effective plays: I'm down with this.

If Josh keeps making observations like that about NE players, his career in Bristol will be short-lived.

Unless he's factoring the a-hole factor I don't know how he leaves Antonio Brown off the list.

Glad to see a former player give Jules the recognition he deserves.

Linking to a BSPN article. That'll hurt em!

Well said. In terms of talent, Edelman is not close to top 5. But if you look at what the dude does in crunch time, especially on the biggest stages...it's remarkable. He is the most clutch receiver in the entire league. Multiple championships were won in no small part due to Edelman's reliability in the most crucial moments.

That has to put him in the top tier, in my heavily biased opinion. It says something when his career statline speaks to that of a good reliable receiver at best yet more than a few people think he should be in the Hall of Fame.

The choice of Edelman at No. 4 particularly drew the ire of football fans as both Antonio Brown (Oakland Raiders) and DeAndre Hopkins (Houston Texans) were left out of the conversation. For context, in 115 games with New England, Edelman has 499 receptions, 5390 receiving yards and 30 touchdowns. Brown, on the other hand, has 837 receptions, 11207 receiving yards and 74 touchdowns in 130 games, while Hopkins has 528 receptions, 7437 receiving yards and 47 touchdowns in 95 games.

Edelman SB Rings - 3
Brown/Hopkins - DNP

Edelman SB MVPs - 1

Interesting.

What I do know is if I need to win one game, Jules is #1 on the list no question.

Damn straight. It's all about perspective. Highlight reel acrobatics are cute and all but 4th and whatever in a win or go home situation who else would you want?

I think you have a funny idea of what constitutes talent.
