Celtics 2019 / 2020

so, what's next? No AD and looks like Kyrie is gone. What do we need and what are the realistic possibilities? I trust Danny to put together a really good roster. PG, C (Capela has be mentioned), and scoring off the bench (I like Redick) come to mind as needs.

what else?

We are where we were before kyrie.....a team that made it to conference finals.....team still had tons of talent

A starting lineup of horford Tatum Hayward brown and smart .... baynes, ojele, Williams ....if we use all 3 picks, I’d go Keldon Johnson, Bruno Fernando, and Carsen Edwards .... find some hungry bodies in FA

I still like Rozier on this team. Now that Kyrie is gone, he can be the player he was pre Kyrie. Looking forward to a full season of Williams and hopefully he can earn some real minutes at C. a lot of "experts" are hyping Bol Bol with our first pick. I think it has mistake written all over it so hopefully they go some place else with that pick. kind of looking forward to next year as I like being the underdog rather than the favorite.

Yesterday was listening to the idiotic ramblings of Bertram about his discovery of a tweet about a U Haul truck outside of Kyrie Irvings home in Newton, allegedly Kyrie is moving to NYC.. they dug deep in the merits or problems with U Haul trucks etc. back to Pandora..

No idea what the Celtics will do Thursday Nite .. with #14, 20 & 22 from my view do not see any earth shattering picks and even if they were bundled and traded for a higher pick, do not see a lot of value for either team. Bad draft to have 3 1st round picks..

Sherrod Blakely has the Celtics going; #14 Tyler Herro, #21 Keldon Johnson ,#22 Goga Bitadze ....

Scary Terry sucks...good riddance...Danny should've drafted Bobby Portis instead of that clown.

I will be very, Very upset if Danny uses ANY of his picks on Bust Bust.

#14 is Way too high for Herro...even #20 might be a reach.

Rumors and other tidbits...

A) Max Al declines his player option though a return to Boston on a longer contract may be in the cards.
B) Bradley Beal being linked with Boston via trade.
C) Ainge looking to move up to #4 in draft for Vanderbilt PG Darius Gardner

Current odds....
A) Less than Max Al returns.....57% (edit......2%)
B) Beal in green........................34%....though I'm all onboard...#pureshooter
C) Climbing to #4 in draft........0%

Green Team Riddle of the Day: Can a player who drags his feet and runs as if he has a dump in his pants be considered an elite athlete?

The Max Contract Al ....aka Mr Intangibles........ era is apparently over.
Great teammate
Very good player
Never a true difference maker but a very solid piece

Very curious to learn how much other teams are willing to pay and for how long. The report is Al seeks 4 years. I'd be comfortable with 2.

Celtics trajectory continues to dip.

good Lord what is happening? I have the utmost confidence is Danny to put together a very competitive team, but if he doesnt, i think he should be fired. Maybe that is a knee jerk reaction, but damn, we have been rebuilding this team since the KG/PP trade and have nothing to show for it.

Answer me this: What exactly has Ainge done wrong?

Ainge's plan blew up the second Heyward's leg splintered.
Irving may have had issues with the kids but in truth Kyrie recognized Boston would never win with a gimpy, untradeable max contract anchor pulling this team down.....for two more years. Kyrie was onboard until Hayward provided virtually nothing this season.
Boston has a $31 million black hole on its roster and this truth hurts.

Ainge still has lots of assets but it isn't Ainge's fault his ping pong ball luck hasn't be stellar nor have the draft classes he's had to choose from.
Lastly, lets not ignore the reality that Boston is not the most desired destination of choice. In truth, few Eastern Conference cities are.

Oh well

They got the #1 pick a couple years ago in a situation where, IIRC, they only had a 25% chance of getting #1. Yes they traded it but what exactly do you want from the ping pong balls that you haven't gotten?

Just a smidgeon of lottery luck could have provided Boston significantly more team building options, whether through the draft or in the trade market.

First....lets establish Boston's lucky leprechaun fallacy:

2019: Sacramento pick stands pat at #14
2018: N/A
2017: Celtics secure #1 because of highest chance to claim #1 (25%)
2016: Celtics have 3rd highest chance to secure #1, remain at #3
2015: N/A
2014: 6th best lottery odds...drafted 6th

In other words, the Celtics could have saved much airfare and hotel expenses by just staying in Boston on lottery night because the NBA lottery has provided this franchise nothing but status quo.

What could have been:

2014.....Embiid at #3 despite injury concerns at time
2016....Simmons or Ingram...in what was universally considered a 2 man draft.....with C's on the outside once again.

Higher picks...more options.

Cleveland sent their #1 pick Wiggins to Minnesota for an established NBA star resulting in many playoff wins.
Embiid is being built around
Lakers had great lottery luck this year and used their #4 as a significant piece to get their newest superstar. NO not to0 impressed with Boston's #14, #20, or #22

Mopey Brown who runs with sh*t in pants and drafted at #3 in a 2 man draft might be used as filler to complete Boston's next trade

Kyrie Irving Rumors: Nets May Stop Pursuing PG Without Kevin Durant Commitment

Other teams had already backed off of pursuing Irving with similar concerns over the way things went awry in Boston.

Irving, Brown's relationship 'worst' on C's

"His (Irving’s) relationship with the young players on the roster was awful. Jaylen Brown, he was probably the worst with. I don’t think it was great with Jayson Tatum, and it was awful with Terry Rozier because Terry was supplanted at a position he thought he did enough to win. That created a pretty nasty atmosphere. Kyrie’s leadership skills were lacking, and he failed at it. He was the first player to be coached by Brad Stevens who didn’t really enjoy being coached by Brad Stevens and that relationship wasn’t solid.”

Boston Strong.....kicking the flat-earther as he sprints out the exit door.
This Boston media tactic is not a choice, it's part of their DNA

I think I missed my calling because I believe I would have been a very successful vindictive spiteful agenda driven journalist who would have kept a scalp count as I destroyed reputations and fan joy.
I chose greed instead

So in 3 of the 4 above situations, they stayed exactly where they should have been and in the 4th situation, they did something they had only a 25% chance of doing.

Yeah it could have been better but it also could have been a lot worse. Don't blame the ping pong balls.

Comments:

- I am not a fan of resigning Rozier for A LOT of money. If he is coming back on a reasonable deal...sign me up...we could use his defense..he is one of the few PG's in the NBA that can defend slightly taller shooting guards/small forwards.

- I like Bol Bol a lot.....I think he's a Thon Maker type of player....him coupled with Robert Williams can give us rim protection (given the news that we have Baynes on the trading block). The kid only played one year of college and got hurt....I think he has a high ceiling....

- Clint Capela sounds good to me too...and if CP3 didn't have such a LARGE contract...I'd love to get him from Houston too...

There’s a ton of truth to it though......Irving brought this upon himself. He was a different guy from the previous year.....tried being a leader and sucked at it so he ran away

Report: C's to sign 7-foot-7 center Tacko Fall

Curious if you had the opportunity to watch Manute Bol play back in the day.....an era when the NBA placed value in freakish size because the game was played inside. Papa Bol was a freak and awful.
Today’s NBA centers will run laps around the latest version, pull him out to the arc, then sprint by him at will. The league now has no room for unathletic freaks. Especially brittle ones.

PS. Back in the day, had the opportunity to stand next to Manute at a preseason game at the Worcester Centrum. The freak show was in town and I was a sucker and bought a ticket. That is the only value this bean poll will bring. A stiff breeze would blow over his papa and I expect the same with junior. The Bols are like gangly teenagers after a huge growth spurt with no ability to control their bodies.

PSS. Besides, the Celts got their own freak.... Taco 7’ 6” Fall who thrives 2 feet from the basket against zones despite having a 4” vertical leap. Can’t wait for summer league.
Taco and Time Lord.... almost worth a trip to Vegas in July.
