Reports/Speculation: Texans will pursue Caserio AGAIN after 2020 Draft/UPDATE - Rumor: He wants out

If they think Caserio is valuable enough to give him total control of their franchise, which is what the Patriots gave Belichick, then the market was already set.

It isn't 3M a year for sure...(what the Jete paid Douglas)
How do you know?

My point is many posters are calling for him to receive a salary increase when no one knows...

1) what he makes today
2) will it retain him/deter suitors
3) will it make him happy

That's the unknown.

I'm assuming they want Nick to have final say and if that's the case, the ask is a 1st rounder.

So far as I'm concerned BOB is a bigger D-bag than Mangini. This A-hole has been with the Texans for 5 years and can't develop any coaches or front office personnel, so he goes & steals them from the Pats. I hope he goes 4 & 12 and gets fired. It could very well happen if his scrambling QB takes a bad hit & gets hurt. It would serve him perfectly well.

And Easterby, like most overtly religious people, always struck me as a sanctimonious phony. He has quite a nerve spouting his moral authority while back-stabbing the team he owes his entire career to.

Fait enough, but I am fairly certain that the man deserves a raise..otherwise there wouldn't be much hullabaloo surrounding him... then again it is a slow news cycle....

With all that said, Jeff Howe reported in 2016 Caserio makes $2m annually.

If he still makes that, a raise might be reasonable. If he received a raise to $3m since then , not sure it makes sense to throw more $ at him.

It’s Bob Kraft’s money, so I’ll throw it around wherever I like. ;)

Maybe we need to have a bake sale or start a GoFundMe page so we can Nick to $3m yr

I like to imagine this is how the conversation went at table 20 that night:

Easterby: “Hey Nick, it’s good to see you, you old so and so!”
Nick: “Oh, hi. How’s Houston?”
E: “Amazing! I went to be the team chaplain and next thing I know I’m in charge of reshaping the whole organization. What a screwy place! It’s no wonder we’ve never won anything of significance. But still, the paychecks are nice and those Texas girls... know what I mean? Anyway, how are things with Ball-Busting Bill?”
N: “Ugh. He’s been showing the whole team videos of me signing Veldheer to a contract, only to see him retire like three minutes later. He says, ‘I’ll bet Nick, the towel boy from Foxboro High could do a better job signing free agents.’ And all those posts from patsfans.com posters about my terrible drafts.”
E: “Yeah, remember after Josh Gordon had his relapse, he put my sermons on the big board and asked Marissa Tomei to diagnose my sentence structure.”
N: “And you’d think with all the practices I’ve helped out, maybe I could win practice player of the week just once!”
E: “Well, maybe you should think about leaving? Oh, Nick, did I say something?”
N: “No, why?”
E: “Oh, for a second there, your eyes seemed to get really big.”
N: “Uh, that’s nothing.”
E: “Right... uh, look, I have to go make a phone call. We’ll... I mean I’ll be in touch.”
N: “No, really, that’s just my normal eyes!”
E: “Right...right... (on phone) Hey Brian, you’re fired. ... huh? This is Jack... yes, the team chaplain. We met at the photo shoot. Anyway, pack your bags... no, this isn't a prank call... I have someone better here who is clearly interested. I could see it in his eyes.”

Oh, so does Mr. Kraft.
He throws it to the left and right and leaves $70 behind.

If He wants to leave he can leave when his deal is up next spring after the draft. As a player personnel guy I am sure he sat across a table from players that wanted to move on. It is just business. I certainly would not think that BB is standing in his way but just insisting that he honors his contract. If BB wants to be nice I think fair value will be a mid 2nd value. McNair was also one who was very critical of Brady and the Pats.

This showed up on CNN, front page for at least awhile this morning...

Maybe the dinner conversation at Kraft’s shindig went something like this:

Nick: hey Jack, good to see you. How’s things in a Texas?

Jack: man you wouldn’t believe the bigot we’ve got with our GM. As a character guy I’ve got to get him out and reshape the organization’s culture. You up for a new challenge?

Nick: I’ll let you know...

Jack: makes cellphone call, “get me Bob Janice McNair, I’ve solved our problem”

Nick: walks away, shouting “hey Bill, we’ve got a problem...”

Kinda impressive that Jack has a phone call connection to whatever post-death realm Bob McNair is in.
