Ziegler and Ossenfort have been behind him for how long ? It obviously is not a net positive as stability is the best solution but it is not like there is nobody below him that has observed how business is done in Foxboro.

It sucks to lose a cog but the machine marches on.
Belichick doesn't want to lose him hence the Tampering claim.
If BB felt so confident that his replacement could do 90 percent as well he wouldn't of filed tampering unless BB is just royally pissed how he was approached about the job during the team ceremony.

This "saga" has been going on now for about a week now. I can't help but wonder why no intrepid reporter has gone to Nick and asked him the simple question, "Nick, do you want the Texan GM job?????" The answer would go a LONG way to clear up a lot of the discussions we are having now. But up to now, we simply just don't know if he even WANTS the job. We can make an INFERENCE there is interest on his part, of course, but there is no definitive answer.

BTW- even if he goes to interview for the job, that still doesn't mean he'll take it. Don't forget that in this instance it will be Casserio interviewing the Texans to see if he wants to come there. The Texan ownership is currently not very stable and their front office situation has been a hot mess for a couple of years now. It's no sure thing that once he got a close up look at the opportunity he'd take it.
Oh, come on Ken. You know his answer to that question would be so incredibly vague we would be arguing about it for months!

That’s exactly why you file tampering charges. There’s the proper way to ask for permission and then there’s the way Houston did it.

Why does he wanna leave and leave for the Texans AFTER they already used their offseason with a different gm?

Makes no sense to me

Final authority on all football decisions.

How so? What are you looking at to get to your position? It can't be the actual draft, given the team's underwhelming success there since 2011, so what is it?

I assume he's largely responsible for going through the cast-off free agents and low-cost trades, finding the diamonds, such as KVN and Trent Brown. These low-cost players seem to be how BB makes a winning team year in and year out.

I also assume someone else in the organization can rise up and do this job, but the fact that BB says he trusts Nick to do it, suggests that he'd be a big loss.

Then again, I also know what happens when I assume.

at this point does anybody think caserio is staying put? if he didnt want to leave i think we would know by now.

Real nice how this played out. Texans poach one Pats exec. Even though he's now with a rival team, Pats invite him to ring ceremony. Former exec. takes Caserio, a highly coveted Pats front office guy into the corner of the tent and tells him, "Hey, I know what it will take for you to leave the Pats, and the Texans will give you everything you want tomorrow when we fire our GM, but you've got to let me know right now if you're interested." Texans fire GM out of nowhere and immediately try to poach Caserio.

Whether he wants the job or not, I will lose a lot of respect for Caserio if this is how he leaves the team. Such BS tactics. Note to Pats - don't invite former executives who have gone to other teams to the ring ceremony. They might act like douche bags with no principles.

Or this organization is trying hard to keep him and are giving a good fight.

Possibly, or we’re in the process of working out compensation.

A character coach no less. I swear you can’t make this stuff up.

I don't think it's relevant right now what Caserio wants.

The facts are:
-Caserio is under contract with the NEP.
-League rules state any team who wishes to speak to another team's FO personnel who is under contract about a position must ask, in writing for permission.

At this point, its about BB protecting assets and Caserio is an asset.

If Caserio wants to leave, too freaking bad. He is under contract with NE and if HOU wants him they will need to compensate NE accordingly.

Imo this is where we’re at in this deal. Houston will get the interview once compensation is agreed to by both parties if Caserio is hired.

I don't know if that's all of it - Houston would have to offer Caserio a position that's a clear upgrade over what he currently has instead of a lateral move in order for the Patriots to NOT be able to deny the interview. If it is a lateral move, then yeah, I think Houston compensates, but if not...

Ok let me clear if he stays a Pat he has beautiful big alert eyes.
If he leaves that bug eyed ***** can enjoy the heat and smell of cow dung in Texas.

So far as I'm concerned BOB is a bigger D-bag than Mangini. This A-hole has been with the Texans for 5 years and can't develop any coaches or front office personnel, so he goes & steals them from the Pats. I hope he goes 4 & 12 and gets fired. It could very well happen if his scrambling QB takes a bad hit & gets hurt. It would serve him perfectly well.

And Easterby, like most overtly religious people, always struck me as a sanctimonious phony. He has quite a nerve spouting his moral authority while back-stabbing the team he owes his entire career to.

King Douche.
If it's Hopkins for Caserio all is forgiven.

Can we really get a 1 for caserio? I have my doubts because we’ve never seen that type of compensation for a GM only. Obviously HCs have generated first rounders in the past.

At this point I'm thinking a third if he goes and it kind of hurts he wants to leave.
