Reports/Speculation: Texans will pursue Caserio AGAIN after 2020 Draft/UPDATE - Rumor: He wants out

So they filed tampering charges in order to investigate whether tampering occurred? Riiiiight, Ian.
Filing charges to get something investigated is perfectly logical. How else is the potential tampering supposed to get investigated? Without charges no one is going to spend any time and effort looking at it.

This feels like the Patriots are fighting a uphill battle keeping him in New England.
Maybe they are trying to rework his deal and convince him not to take the the interview and the tampering charge is to buy more time to block any kind of hiring by the Texans.

I think you're right and I hope this is the case.

Bill O'Brien sucks

Brady basically told him to get effed on live TV, which I don't think he's ever done with any other coach in his life.

As for the Texans committing tampering and getting reported by the Patriots... ahem.. AYYY LMFAO

Doesn't matter. Bullets i and ii are joined with "and", so the rule doesn't apply unless both bullets are true and from everything we know bullet one is not true for Caserio because BB has final say, not Caserio.
I'm sure the NEP can make an argument.

He gave McDaniels a little talkin'to a couple years ago, only Josh didn't bark back the way O'Brien did.

Perfect, now I know how to get in at next year's ring ceremony:

Hostess: "Good evening, sir. Welcome to the Krafts for tonight's festivities. May I have your name, please?"

Me: "Yes, thank you. My name is Hypocrite. Spineless Little Back-stabbing Hypocrite."

Hostess: "Here you are, Mr. Hypocrite. You are at table 20. For the main course will you be having collusion, tampering or fabricated deflation? Tampering? Excellent choice, sir. Enjoy your evening. Next?"
I'd love to know who else was seated at table 20...

I still don't understand why people insist Nick needs a raise. For all we know he could be making north of $3m annually

BB knows what Nick is worth. It's not like Nick is in indentured servitude to the NEP.

Nick needs a raise because the Texans are interested and he doesn't have the title of "GM" thus subjecting him to teams being interested. With a huge salary, other teams wouldn't hire him to be the highest paid GM in the league.

I don't agree with this assessment I feel like the Texans would offer him close to a blank check.

BTW, PFT was speculating this AM that we could actually get some compensation in exchange for dropping the tampering suit....

If Nick wants the job...and we could get...say a 3rd.... SIGN ME UP!!!!

Assuming that happens...who would be our in house replacement? Ossenfort? Or do we search outside the organization?

I'm not in the let's lose Caserio for a third round pick that will be turned to multiple late round picks camp.
I can't get excited for that.

It would be a huge loss no other way to paint it.

Ziegler and Ossenfort have been behind him for how long ? It obviously is not a net positive as stability is the best solution but it is not like there is nobody below him that has observed how business is done in Foxboro.

It sucks to lose a cog but the machine marches on.

How so? What are you looking at to get to your position? It can't be the actual draft, given the team's underwhelming success there since 2011, so what is it?

He is replaceable.

Do you know what his salary is?

Ultimately if Caserio doesn't want to stay then it's best to let him go but try and extract some compensation for it. No point keeping someone who will be unhappy.

However, if he is open to staying under improved terms I do think we should see if we can't find a way to offer something.

This "saga" has been going on now for about a week now. I can't help but wonder why no intrepid reporter has gone to Nick and asked him the simple question, "Nick, do you want the Texan GM job?????" The answer would go a LONG way to clear up a lot of the discussions we are having now. But up to now, we simply just don't know if he even WANTS the job. We can make an INFERENCE there is interest on his part, of course, but there is no definitive answer.

BTW- even if he goes to interview for the job, that still doesn't mean he'll take it. Don't forget that in this instance it will be Casserio interviewing the Texans to see if he wants to come there. The Texan ownership is currently not very stable and their front office situation has been a hot mess for a couple of years now. It's no sure thing that once he got a close up look at the opportunity he'd take it.
