Reports/Speculation: Texans will pursue Caserio AGAIN after 2020 Draft/UPDATE - Rumor: He wants out

Why are people assuming throwing money and a shiny title at Nick makes this go away or even necessary?

Here's the relevant rule:

“An individual who is the primary football executive for the club and who has:

(i) The primary authority over all personnel decisions related to the signing of free agents, the selection of players in the College Draft, trades and related decisions; and
(ii) The primary responsibility for coordinating other football activities with the head coach.

Final authority regarding the composition of the 53-player roster is not a requirement.

Except as may be otherwise provided in such contract, a club is not obligated to grant another club permission to discuss employment with a high level employee if he or she is under contract even in the inquiring club is prepared to offer the employee a position of greater responsibility within the category of high-level club employee. “
But Caserio isn't the primary authority. It's Belichick, right?

That could be argued.
BB could and should argue he works in concert with Nick and it would be exactly the same way in Houston.
That being said Obrein is ballsy to tamper if he loses his top gig who will take him on when he put a knife in BBs back.
POS

That could be argued.

I don't see how. From the sounds of it Caserio will have final say over the roster in Houston.

Do you honestly think that Caserio can overrule Belichick if Belichick wants to take Tyroil Smoochie-Wallace and Caserio wants to take Xmus Jaxon Flaxon-Waxon?

I focused on bullet ii
But it uses the word "and" which means it has to use both bullet points. So the whole thing doesn't qualify for Caserio's case or is it just another case of the league buttfumbling and they mean "or"?

NFL rules are like ice cream

Easily melted

Have the rules been changed since the Patriots denied Houston permission to interview Caserio and Ossenfort in January 2018? If not, I don’t understand how the Patriots could deny permission then but not now.

Don’t know where this is headed, but if Caserio wants to leave, NE is better off taking a pick from Houston (if it’s offered to make this go away) and move on. I don’t get the impression BB wants mixed loyalties. If Caserio wants that gig and NE prevents him, how can that cause strain ?

I hope NC stays. But not if it means difficult working conditions. Everyone needs to pull in the same direction.

Goodell is the commissioner now. You saw what he did when Woody Johnson clearly tampered. 100k fine. And then the Chiefs tamper with Maclin and lose draft picks. The Fuhrer won't do anything.

Yup!
Move It Along, Nothin To See Here!

My thinking on this matter is that for the Patriots to file tampering charges they must have been told by someone (Caserio) that Houston had approached him. With that in mind

1..If Caserio wants out of NE and really wants the Houston job why would he have told the Pats that the Texans talked with him prematurely. He knows this would cause a firestorm

2..if Caserio wants nothing to do with Houston and he has told that to the Patriots, he would probably not want the Patriots to make a big deal of the approach of him knowing it would make him look bad in any other future teams interest in him The Patriots knowing they are not going to lose him would most likely back off and protect his wish. edit. (This definitely is out of play)

3....if Caserio wants to stay but wants to use the strong interest as a way to better his current contract. Supposedly his contract ends next year) this would strengthen his chance at a new contract.

4.....the patriots were approached by Caserio being upfront with his and the Texans interest. He would have to know that this would create a firestorm but maybe he has a conscious. The Patriots knowing that they are going to lose Caserio and know that the bylaws were violated want some compensation for their loss

I’d bet 4, but am open to any of these being close to the truth.

We really don’t know anything. With that being said, if he has been offered more money and more control, I don’t blame him. He has to do what is right for him and his family. I also stand on the side of the fence that if he does want to leave, let him go. We only want people here that want to be here.

I expect the Pats organization to do everything they can to get some sort of compensation for a guy they’ve been grooming for years.

Take the gloves off and let’s fight! Poor Houston is going to lose, they always do.

This might be a bit optimistic but the league gives us a first rounder, the Texans play like ****, it's a high 1st rounder, and we get QB of the future.

They can refuse and tell him to pound sand. BB seems consider him as irreplaceable. given all of the hats that he wears, so why would he ever agree to allow him to go to an AFC rival. If his last contract was signed in 2014, he’s probably underpaid. Tell him how much they value him by offering him a big raise.

I suspect that the Pats have strong evidence of tampering.

It should be noted that while the chiefs lost two draft picks for tampering with Maclin, the picks weren’t awarded to Philly.

He’s just speculating. Nothing to see here.

Plus this is illogical:

“And from what I'm told, this goes back to the ring ceremony last Thursday night. Jack Easterby, who was given a lot of influence in the Houston Texans organization, used to be with the Patriots. He was present there in New England, Nick Caserio was present in New England, and it sounds like the Patriots want to find out what happened that night and did that affect the Texans firing Brian Gaine and believing that they had a shot at Nick Caserio."

So they filed tampering charges in order to investigate whether tampering occurred? Riiiiight, Ian.
