Midway through practice, Brady worked individually with N’Keal Harry and undrafted rookie Jakobi Meyers. Timing between Brady/Harry remains a work in progress. A few missed connections on slants/comebacks on air. Harry getting plenty of individual coaching from McDaniels.

Not a peep from Inman. If he's fighting for a spot with Harris...early indications are not good. It's a long training camp tho...

**Receiver Phillip Dorsett made the most impressive catch of the day, beating cornerback Joejuan Williams on a corner route to the back of the end zone and leaping to haul in the pass despite tight coverage from the 6-foot-3 rookie.

Dorsett continues to work alongside Julian Edelman as the second receiver.

**Free-agent acquisition Maurice Harris was often the third receiver with Edelman and Dorsett. Harris again enjoyed a busy afternoon, which included a deep reception from Brady on a corner route.

You know you are in the black hole time of the NFL when people get excited about OTA/Mini Camp news and try to find meaningful little nuggets in an otherwise completely meaningless activity.

This is not about evaluating players but getting everyone up to speed so they can hit the camp running when it starts at the end of July.

Yes and no.

I totally believe that some people can get in better shape than they were before. It's not even hard to imagine. When you're in your 20s you're doing blow off of stripper ****s and doing butt chugs. When you're older you start feeling youth slipping away so you start to focus in a way you never did when you were 20.

What undeniably is worse is your recovery time. I'm much stronger in every way possible than I was when I was in the previous best shape of my life at 32. I have equal or possibly better cardio health now too.

But in my early 40s now if I sleep wrong I'm ****ed up for 1-2 days. Pull a muscle in my back I'm ****ed for a week. I had a fraction of the recovery time when I was younger.
Same here at 46. If I have a mini-bender over a weekend (AKA "most weekends") then I'm down for a week. I used to be able to shrug that **** off in a day.

Exercise too. I'm in very good shape (for my age!!) but if I change my workout at all I'm sore for four days.

True but when reporters like Doug Kyed say JC Jackson kicked ass in the passing game last year and more often than not these camps serve as a nice indicator of success in training camp, for now its worth following and tucking away until late July.

So....perhaps this a bad time to mention that Dawson has outplayed Williams thus far, according to reports.

That's great news since all I've heard is Williams is gonna be the next Browner. But with that being said, maybe these WRs (and of course it being an OTA) are not the best matchup for someone who's supposed to be a tall physical corner lol

Got the whole TC to go but not exactly the greatest start.

I have a question for this entire forum.

Do you think any athlete in history is in his physical prime at age 42?
After running across this a couple of times it trigered a memory that might answer your question. I believe when i was taking anatomy and physiology (many years ago) that i read or was told in class that at 40 years old athletes have 80% of the lung capacity and endurance that you had at age 20 if they continued to train regularly. We all know brady is a fanatic when it comes to his body and training so i would think while brady is not in his prime, hes still not to far off.

How did Tom Brady, in his physical prime, compare to Michael Vick, in his physical prime? To Brian Hoyer? Or even to Christian Hackenberg, perhaps the worst QB in NFL history?

Answering such questions might indicate to you how high on the physical prime scale one needs to be in order to excel at quarterbacking, if you think about it even a little.

Thats what I thought/hopes, until I read this today.....

“While Michel missed all of the preseason last year along with Weeks 1, 7 and 8 with knee injuries, the Georgia product was outstanding in the playoffs and seemed to finish the season without any issues, so no offseason surgeries seemed necessary.

In fact, based on video released by the Patriots of the first OTA session (closed to media), Michel was on the field and active. This makes his absence the last three sessions open to the media, including Tuesday and Wednesday’s mandatory minicamp, a little concerning.”

Sony Michel’s absence from on-field activities beginning to become real storyline

I don't think it's a storyline. I think it's just limiting wear and tear and nothing more.

Might want to stick with just franchise players for jerseys. You’re always gonna get burned if you don’t.

Even that's pretty subjective. Plenty of guys seem like franchise players until they suddenly aren't.

There is a physical prime and a professional prime.

You could argue Tom is still in his professional prime.
