Quick minicamp day 2 rundown: Brady was 20 of 26 today in competitive team drills. Stidham again took all third-team reps over Etling. Mayo continued calling defensive plays. Same attendance as yesterday.

Some thoughts on camp so far

N'Keal Harry - I find it interesting Gilmore is being put on him so much. IIRC usually you start rookie WRs on easier CBs when they're getting their feet wet, but Gilmore has been on him since day 1. I think this says a lot about where they think his maturity and professionalism is.

Other WRs/TEs - hearing good things overall but until the pads come on I take it all with a grain of salt.

QBs - Reports indicate Stidham is already ahead of Elting, but miles behind Hoyer as far as command of the offense. Anyone holding out hope we will only carry 2 QBs (Brady/Stidham) probably needs to give up on that.

CBs - I haven't heard much about many individuals in this group, more so just collective solid play. I expect that to continue. Gimore as the standout and everyone else doing their job well and being competitive.

LB - Nice to hear about Collin already making some plays. I think this may turn into a sneaky good signing. I expect to see a lot of LBs on the field this year.

Punter - Jake Bailey at this point it's hard not to call him the favorite. He has been consistent in every report I have read. I wonder if the Pats plan to trade Allen. Just cutting such a capable punter seems like a waste.
I love that they've put Gilly on Harry. What it also says is by putting the best on him, the coaches want him to know how far he has to go (and the coaches can evauate him vs the best) and also acclimate him as quickly as possible to "NFL level" talent

I haven't spoken of or thought of DeBarge in 30 years....until now.

All from seeing a pic of Maurice Harris.

Then you really shouldn't read the rest of this thread....at least not today.

This storyline is one to watch. I figured they may rotate play calling duties at minicamp among the new coaches as a learning experience. We’ll see tomorrow but Mayo calling plays both days is notable.

Emerging as the de facto NFL DC for Bill Belichick in your first year of coaching at any level would be a heck of an achievement. Considering every previous playcaller here had decades of experience Mayo would need to be some sort of coaching prodigy to do that already.
