It's the Off Season.

Apparently, the NFL* is asking a panel of "Experts" to rank / select the 100 Greatest Plays in the NFL's 100 Year History.

For me, a more relevant question might be "What's the single Greatest NFL Play in the Super Bowl Era?

Of course, this is an impossible question, as different criteria, different fan bases, and different viewpoints abound.

However, my selection , without hesitation, is the "Malcolm Butler Interception".

That said, what is your selection for The Single Greatest NFL Play In The Super Bowl Era?

I’m guessing walk-off type plays would count in a big way, so expect to see the Music City Miracle, the Miami Miracle, and Stefon Diggs’ touchdown against the Saints.

Obviously a bit of bias goes into this but to me it's gotta be Butler's INT.

How could the Butler INT not be #1? I can't think of a bigger play.

Given the situation, the impact of the outcome and the sheer athleticism and intelligence of the play, it HAS to be Butler. There are other, great, impactful plays obviously, but nothing has the total combination of that one play. Still unreal to me to be honest.

Yup. If it was just Butler knocking down the ball then Lynch probably runs it in on the next play. He HAD to pick it.

As much as Steelers* fans are tools, objectively I must admit the Immaculate Reception is justifiably iconic. Huge playoff game winning play on 4th and long.

Should be top 5. Will be #1 on this because Steelers*.

Probably. Add the Immaculate Reception as well. Sadly it depends on the makeup of the “experts.”

Jinx.

The Miami miracle doesn't bother me anymore because it allowed us to rip the heart out of Chief's fans in their stadium. And Gronk trying to play D is kind of humorous.

But also get ready to see Rodney square dancing with Tyree in the top 10.

I see a difference in the Greatest Play and Biggest Play.

If the goal is to choose a play that had the biggest impact on the biggest game there are only 6 plays I can think of.

Malcolm INT
Montana to Taylor vs CIN
Roeth to Holmes vs AZ
AV beats Rams SB
AV beats CAR w/ FG
OBrien FG :09 Colts beat Dallas in SB

Are those the greatest plays in NFL history? Maybe not but those were the last key plays which directly impacted the outcome of a game.

David Tyree

...Just kidding

Helmet catch is going to be ranked way higher than it should.

I would say the Malcom Butler INT is the greatest defensive play in Super Bowl history, therefore, probably the greatest defensive play in the Super Bowl Era. I’d have to say the Franco Harris Immaculate Reception is probably the greatest offensive play.

Santonio Holmes TD in SB 43

The Vinatieri FG to tie the Oakland playoff game will and should be top 20. May be the only FG to make the list.
