BB Best GM in NFL.. again.

The only HC/GM that's in the discussion is Chuck Noll and he isn't even close. He built a very strong team but not for two decades. He did it for a little more than half as long as BB.
Add Landry to the list, too. If you say he deserves credit for 2002 you could argue Al Davis as well .

Thanks. I wasn't sure about Landry's length of service and I should have thought of Al Davis.

Yea. Coach Landry coached a legit contender from 1967-1983. Tex Schramm picked the groceries but Tom cooked the dinner and took the menu away from Tex sometimes

Davis was coach, took them to a SB but hired Madden in 69, Flores in 79 and hired Gruden in 97 I think but still picked the groceries.

I agree with you. We never would’ve gotten 4 first rounders but I feel like if we were going to trade him we would’ve gotten more in the off-season. You’re also right about the jury still being out on him. There’s not a lot of film on him due to injuries. With that said I’m rooting for him and really hope he stays healthy this year.

To get more for him in the off-season meant tagging him, which would have tied their hands in free agency. Belichick’s best choice would have been to trade Garrapolo prior to the previous Draft, but he wasn’t ready to pull that trigger.

For years I've kept tuning in now and then to that station and WEEI, hoping that they would clean up their acts. They haven't.

If I don't listen for more than 30 seconds does that help?

Bb the gm drafts solder to play left tackle in the first round. Solder plays a few years for us and leaves as the highest paid offensive lineman in football.

Bb the gm counters by trading for right tackle brown. Bb moves brown to left tackle, Brown plays excellent football for one year and leaves as the highest paid offensive lineman in football.

So who plays left tackle in 2019? Well bb the gm has first round pick Wynn to take over this year.

Bb the gm does have a few misses, but he generally hits way more than misses.

I don't think he counts on 'hitting' and 'missing' as much as he stockpiles -options- in case one fails.

For example, Wynn was the first round pick to be used, Brown was going to be the backup plan (since Brown was acquired DURING the draft), and they were, I think, going to compete for spots.

We obviously notice the individual 'misses', and count him 'lucky' he had another player ready to step in, but I think that's the wrong way to look at it. I think he doesn't actually -care- if he hits or misses as much as he just stockpiles as many options as possible and then shifts through it to try and find gold. He may simply have a good option that we never know about because his first option 'hits' so well the other options don't come in play.

(Kinda like Garoppolo and Brady, in my view - Brady played much better much longer, so having Garoppolo ready to replace Brady never really materialized and they traded Garoppolo for -something-.)

I don’t think anyone is accusing him of not having a backup plan. I think some are making the case he has had some early round misses in the last few years.
