NFLPA Director warns players and agents to get ready for year long lockout

Pats'll still be favored to win the Lombardi.

If that happens, it likely means that Brady is done after next year (2020). It would be hard to imagine him playing in 2022.

I am guessing the whole reason for the year long stoppage will be because of Article 46! Goodell wont give up his power! I fully expect a year without football!

I find it a touch odd the last season before a lockout is the first season of the return of the xfl

It won’t happen. Many of the players won’t have enough saved up to withstand a year without pay. They’ll get bent over the bargaining table again.

The NFLPA should be encouraging players to always save more money, potential work stoppage or not.

Shhh. They might see it as the only way to beat him.

It's amazing to me that a league as profitable and powerful as the NFL could even think a lockout would be possible.

I have a hard time believing the nflpa cares as much about art 46 as they do the percentage of media revenue allocated to cap. That is all they have ever cared about.

I think the big thing they will fight for will be fully guaranteed contracts like the NBA and MLB have.

**** in one hand, hope in the other. See which gets filled first. It’s a nice concept but many of these players are coming from dirt poor backgrounds where financial acumen simply does not exist. It’s the reason you see guys like Warren Sapp go tits up while owning hundreds of pairs of Jordans or the reason why the first thing a guy does is buy his mom a two story waterfront house in a gated, upscale community without a thought to things like property taxes, etc.

A lockout or a strike? Lockouts are done by management, strikes by labor.

It's a long way away right now.

Two years away is a long time off to players who are so young. Most will start saving week 10, 2020.

That was my first thought as well.

Yep. This is standard boilerplate crap that the NFLPA says before the real negotiations starts.

I think they have a lot to fight really hard for and against. They got taken last time around.

That said they usually last a couple of weeks before folding.

The NFL will self destruct.

Fans still havent come back from all the anthem BS.
