2018-19 Stanley Cup - Bruins vs Blues

If 'due' had any bearing on results the Sox wouldn't have buried a couple of generations without winning a championship. In a best of seven series the better team wins, even if that 'better' is largely a matter of the guy between the pipes. That's why the 'easy path' to the finals stuff is laughable. If you beat the 'easier' team that beat the 'better 'team then you are the better team. The battle of attrition that is the Stanley Cup playoffs is nothing if not Darwinian. There's a lot to like about this matchup, as a fan one of the more pleasing aspects being that it's between two serious hockey towns.

As for the Jete, the only thing they are due for is more humiliation. I trust they will indeed get their due

Bruins in 5

I’ll take the Bruins any way they can get it. The Blues are really good, and they will be a major challenge, but I like the B’s against bigger teams more than I do against teams like Toronto, whose speed and skills gave them serious problems.

Leafs aint in the cup.
Leafs were "due" to get over the bruins. They didn't. 2 teams are in the cup every year - one wins and one loses. Due doesn't mean crap unless you execute. Not saying the Blues have no chance at all, just that your due crap is just that.

Who gives a rats axx about the leafs or the canes. I'm talking championship game and being due happens all the time in sports.

It's just odds. Like the Eagles. Curses are meant to be eventually broken.

Bruins in 6. The Blues have the ability to keep these games close. I could see a few frustrating 2-1 or 3-2 OT losses.

Also I think the PP will dry up for the Bruins. They played 3 of the worst PP defenses in the playoffs. The Blues aren't great but they aren't bad at defending the PP. Overall the Bruins offense hasn't impressed me much 5 on 5 save for a few games these playoffs. They've been fine but it can be argued the Blues are just as good if not a hair better 5v5.

I would be surprised if the Bruins put up more than 3 goals in any game not counting desperation time situations of course.

Also the Blues have been good on the road, I don't think that the Bruins will be able to depend on dominating home ice this series. All those games will be contested at they will probably lose HFA at some point.

All that being said I the Bruins just need to do what they've been doing the past month and they should win.

The Eagles won because they executed very well and arguably got some calls they shouldn't have, had nothing to do with being "due"

Horseshit.

Blaming it on the officiating is weak sauce. Raiders are still whining about the tuck rule.

I look for the Blues to throw the kitchen sink at the Bruins game 1.

They hope to catch Rask sleepy after time off and steal a game. Its going to be physical head on a swivel hockey.

Chara needs to bring everything that he has left.

Toronto has won 13 Stanley Cup’s, they just haven’t won in over 50 years.
Yeah, Browns, Lions, Bills, Cards won titles too a while ago.

Sens won the Cup, but this modern franchise does not associate itself with its old namesake.

Regardless if you agree on the officiating or not (Eagles deserved the win btw) that's not really the point. They won because they made more plays, not because of some "horseshit" notion that they were "due". Gtfo with that horseshit.

That plays right into the Bs favor.

Toronto gives them "fits" because of their speed.

Blue Jackets tried to out physical them and fell apart because they couldn't sustain it.

Canes tried to play that game and got run out of the series.

Chara is realistically their 3rd DMan now; behind McAvoy and Carlo. Yes I would rather him out there than John Moore but lets not pretend this is 2011 Chara.

This whole "due" business is hilarious. The Blues are due because they haven't won a Cup? You serious Clark? Are Al Arbour and Phil Goyette lacing them up?

If the Blues were to win the Cup, which they certainly can, it will have 0.0 to do with "being due". It will have everything to do with out playing their opponent.

What's next, the Lions are due for a Super Bowl? Or the O's are due for a WS?

The Red Sox went 85 years without a title and no one claimed they had never won a World Series. And One-be-ol already acknowledged that it was just a mistake. It’s no big deal either way,

Was a huge hockey fan in the 60's & 70's when they used to broadcast on Channel 38, lived in Newport and had to go to a bar just to watch the games, Bobby Orr's goal.. Having to go to bars to watch the Bruins tempered my fandom. Then my interest fell off..

Now back to being a die hard, what amazes me most is the passion of the Bruins fans.. one might think that after the RS World Series, Pats SB champs that there is only so much sports fanaticism to go around, guess I was wrong.. amazed at how passionate fans are.

Amazingly this is Boston's 17th championship series since 2001... pinch me and tell me this is real.
