Am I the only one who found it interesting that King ran mostly with the LBs yesterday?
Is it possible that BB is eyeing him for a bigger role than just special teams ace, perhaps as an undersized but agile LB in certain situations in latest version of the vaunted Amoeba defense?

Weirder things have certainly happened in the past, but I don't think this is new. He's always been variously listed as a LB or S depending who you ask.

But.. But.. But.. What the hell does Dante' know.. Just listen to @captain stone. Anyone with less than 34" arms is worthless on an O-line.. I mean.. just look at all the accolades that @captain stone has to support himself..

Absolutely **** on Mason and Thuney being drafted for that reason. Dude should never question OL draft picks again. Scar has made him look like an absolute dumbass whining about arm length

It's more noticeable when captain doesn't whine.

I really and truly hope that after OTAs, Brady invites the receivers out to Cali so they can "get to know one another" or as we've said in the past, have his receiver's camp.

It would be a fantastic way to help all the new guys get a leg up on TC. Having guys like Watson and Edelman there would do wonders for Inman, Harry, Berrios, etc..

Harry was talking about how much Edelman has already helped him:

“One of the newcomers who flashed was Matt LaCosse. The veteran tight end appears to move well and looks quite comfortable catching the ball. Again, it’s OTAs and looks can deceive but LaCosse could be an under-the-radar candidate to fill a role at tight end.”

It would be glorious if he became a major contributor and Brady favorite this year.... First, because it would be great for the team. Second, because it would force the posters (and they know who they are) who wrote that the sky is falling because they did not draft one of the raw second or third level tight ends in the draft, to eat crow. He showed enough last year with the Broncos, when finally given a chance, that he could surprise now that he finally has an elite quarterback throwing it to him.

It may not come to fruition but I am still going to optimistic and put this post in a drawer for safe keeping, just in case:

An interesting development in camp is Joe Thuney playing tackle, this could be the plan going forward. He has better length for the position and Wynn is a more natural guard...
Not really:

Joe Thuney, North Carolina State, OG, 2016 Draft Scout, DraftScout.com/NFL Draft Scout

Isaiah Wynn, Georgia, OG, 2018 Draft Scout, DraftScout.com/NFL Draft Scout

Thuney does, however have a slightly longer wingspan (79" vs 78-7/8") perhaps due to the difference in hand sizes (9-5/8" vs a Braxton Barrio-esque 8-1/2").

I could not care less about any draft publications. If you want to hear relevant takes go and check out what e.g. Goeff Schwartz said about Wynn. I trust an experienced former player a lot more than the draft scene when it comes to certain positions and especially around the OL.

And, yes, Wynn was imho the best tackle in the draft. Miller only got taken earlier because of his size but not because he was the better player. The reality is that the size doesn't matter if your arm length makes up for it.

Why do you think size matters apart from its correlation with longer arms ?
I don't want to go looking, that's why I asked for a link. I have noticed a trend of "experts" telling us the players Belichick picked after he picks them are amazing, but they weren't saying that prior to the draft, so they're deferring to Bill's expertise.

Height and length matters because defenders have to circumvent a wider edge, an athletic long tackle can push them past the play. Solder and Vollmer weren't basketball player tall for no reason.

And just to keep this in perspective Thuney has a longer wingspan than Wynn. Do I think Wynn could play tackle in a pinch, absolutely, so could any of the offensive linemen on the field or bench, who is best for the job is what matters.

Mike McGlinchey and Connor Williams were rated above Kolton Miller on most draft guides and by most credible experts. Almost everyone had Wynn pegged as a guard.

This reminds me of Cannon's early years when people insisted he was a guard simply because the team wanted him cross trained and used him there in spots, apparently people forget that Nate Solder played tackle, guard and even center in preseason of his rookie year. At the end of the day Wynn could end up starting at tackle, suggesting he is locked in there now is absurd when even the Patriots don't know that.

Your mistake is plain as day. "Credible draft experts".. Let me know how many of these "credible experts" actually have rings and how many don't.

At BEST they are a guide that's wrong as much as they are right. If you can't admit that, you have zero business commenting on their credibility.

The original poster stated Wynn was drafted because he was the best tackle in the draft, is he a credible expert?

Wynn is a bit of a mystery. "Forced to played some tackle" doesn't quite do justice to the fact that he started over 20 games at LT, and was first-team all-SEC as a senior playing exclusively at LT. Physically, he's kind of unusual: squat but athletic, long arms for his height but tiny hands. He certainly doesn't look like an NFL tackle, but then again Shaq Mason slipped in the draft because he didn't look like a guard.

At this point I'm just trusting Dante when he says he sees Wynn as a tackle. ‍We'll see!
Trusting Patriots coaches, guys with decades of experience and skilled in nuances of positional play ahead of forum posters who read draft profiles from amateur draftniks and/or media pundits isn't a bad approach. ;)

According to his agent the Patriots aggressively pursued Trent Brown which pushed his price up, so whatever confidence they had in Wynn to step in and start wasn't enough to stop them from trying to retain Brown.

To be clear, I think that it is likely that Allen will be beaten out. I just thought it funny that anyone should think that not attending a practice or two mad much difference, especially an optional practice.

For the folks who clicked the funny button, you don't trade up for a punter for no reason. If the guy shows up to OTAs, and his only competition isn't present, it doesn't look good for Ryan Allen... at all. On top of that, his college special teams coach says he can punt, kick off, and kick FGs, the kind of versatility BB loves.

I think trusting wozzy and goheels is the smarter approach.

A team trying to retain a good player isn't indicative of how they feel about another player.

You lost me right there.
I'm sure there is a reasonable purpose for lying about this after the fact... I mean he already got paid, to what end?

I'm not the one offering guarantees, in fact I'm saying no position is written in stone.

It's other posters making declarative statements as if they're fact.
