6' - 170 according to the school; 5'9.5" - 178 according to another...Would be better if he were 6' - 178...I wonder if the Pats put him through the short-shuttle & 3-cone drills before inviting him to OTAs, because at that size his #s there need to be outstanding.

6.88 at his pro day. Average numbers everywhere else. As the 90th man, can't hurt to see what he can do.

An interesting development in camp is Joe Thuney playing tackle, this could be the plan going forward. He has better length for the position and Wynn is a more natural guard.

Gunner has great mobility and decent speed and burst, he'll have to live up to his name and play special teams as well. We're in the market for a kick/punt returner so they'll be on the lookout for that.

I don't think Thuney is any more of a tackle than Wynn.

Any more than Matt Light...

He's taller and longer than Wynn, or Matt Light for that matter.

OK, hands up if you knew before today that there was a Bemidji State University. Or what state it was in.

According to one site, Olszewski was the 192nd-best cornerback prospect in this draft, behind guys from such powerhouse programs as Johnson C. Smith University and California Polytechnic. Needless to say, I've found my rookie binky.
Being a hockey fanatic, I knew of Bemidji State.

Here's my understanding: at some point in the recent past, BB stopped assigning rookies numbers and actually ran minicamp/OTAs without jersey numbers at all. The league then made it mandatory to practice with numbers. Giving rookies meaningless numbers until the absolute last minute (turned out to be the day of the first preseason game) seems to be BB's cheeky way of getting around the rule change.

And just to complete this. BB not giving out numbers was often portrayed as a dig against the media so they can't tell who is who. But in reality the primary function was so players would start getting to know each other better instead of just using numbers. It has always been about team building.

Yes, lets transition the only player on the OL who has an expiring contract to be the next LT. Maybe we can go 3 for 3 with market setting LT deals.

But on a more serious note. Thuney is doing it because Wynn is not cleared yet and because he will be emergency depth. Wynn will be the LT of this team. Especially now that we hear through the grapevines that the team is pretty happy with him.

Wynn is our franchise left tackle.

Last year I heard Wynn would be the left tackle on this team before he got hurt and Trent Brown started there from day one.

Wynn was drafted because Mason hadn't signed a contract yet, Thuney and Karras were both up at the end of this season. He is a natural guard who was forced to play some tackle in college, ideally you're not starting a 6'3" tackle.

Wynn was drafted because he was the best tackle prospect in the entire draft.

No he wasn't, that would be Kolton Miller.

Find me a link to a single credible draft publication that had him slotted as the number 1 tackle?

Draftscout.com had Wynn pegged as the third best guard, and they're probably the best at what they do.

Wynn is a bit of a mystery. "Forced to played some tackle" doesn't quite do justice to the fact that he started over 20 games at LT, and was first-team all-SEC as a senior playing exclusively at LT. Physically, he's kind of unusual: squat but athletic, long arms for his height but tiny hands. He certainly doesn't look like an NFL tackle, but then again Shaq Mason slipped in the draft because he didn't look like a guard.

At this point I'm just trusting Dante when he says he sees Wynn as a tackle. ‍We'll see!

I could not care less about any draft publications. If you want to hear relevant takes go and check out what e.g. Goeff Schwartz said about Wynn. I trust an experienced former player a lot more than the draft scene when it comes to certain positions and especially around the OL.

And, yes, Wynn was imho the best tackle in the draft. Miller only got taken earlier because of his size but not because he was the better player. The reality is that the size doesn't matter if your arm length makes up for it.

Why do you think size matters apart from its correlation with longer arms ?

Dante had an animated discussion about that last year after they drafted Wynn.
Dante Scarnecchia gets bent out of shape over emphasis on arm length in NFL

We’ll see if they decide he can play tackle, but certainly they drafted him believing he could play tackle.

The logic here is questionable at best.

3-cone was 6.88 at his Pro-Day.
Shuttle wasn't as good... 4.33..

Does have a 36 in vertical.

But.. But.. But.. What the hell does Dante' know.. Just listen to @captain stone. Anyone with less than 34" arms is worthless on an O-line.. I mean.. just look at all the accolades that @captain stone has to support himself..

Thuney has always taken reps at LT during OTAs and TC. Specifically for the reason of being an emergency LT.

Well that ends this discussion.
