Wonder how the scouts found out about this guy. That is a small school.

Ok, full disclosure, I read that as WR/PR/Gunner and couldn't figure out if Olszewski was first name, last name, or he was so dominant in college that Olszewski was all that he needed to be referred to as.

Wouldn't it be funny if he made the 53 as a core special teams member (and 4th string quarterback)?

It would be pretty hilarious. I can't remember the last time we kept someone on the roster long term for the sole purpose of returning though, so he would have to be a core special teams player as you say.

I wonder how big of a loss Patterson will end up being in the kicking game. He was really, really good at returning and our recent history there besides him isn't great. Remember when we had the heaviest KR in the league by a solid 50 pounds in Blount? He got the job done but I don't want to go back to those days.

He could get cut tomorrow but he sounds like one of the more interesting UDFAs out there:

  • Division II All-American DB with 310 tackles & 13 interceptions.
  • Two sport collegiate athlete - tied the school record in stolen bases as a sophomore
  • Measured in at 5'9.5" 178 lbs. at his pro day (not quite prototypical NFL size :D)
  • Can't find him in any NFL Draft profiles anywhere. There's a local article talking about the opportunities in the XFL/AAF (Beaver Football Alumni Gunner Olszewski and John Vogeler Participate In Gopher Pro Day).
  • Signed to an NFL training camp to play a position he didn't play in college at the D2 level in WR.
On top of the great name I am in on this story. I hope he lasts until training camp.

Knowing Belichick they were probably scouting their Curling program and came across him.

I saw a highlight of Harry returning punts. Does he do kicks too?

Pro day numbers weren't special, but they aren't awful, either. Could probably do worse for a camp body. Might show up a bit on ST.

ahh come on, we're all thinking

Future Hall of Famer. BB's latest and greatest gem. The one to surpass Gronk's absence

But no expections, of course

Doubt he’ll make the team now

For the folks who clicked the funny button, you don't trade up for a punter for no reason. If the guy shows up to OTAs, and his only competition isn't present, it doesn't look good for Ryan Allen... at all. On top of that, his college special teams coach says he can punt, kick off, and kick FGs, the kind of versatility BB loves.

Because he knows as well as most of us that OTAs are borderline meaningless when it comes to job safety for veterans. The only reasonable way OTAs influence what will happen in camp for those players is if they get injured now.

Now the tryouts and edge of the 90 roster guys for them its different. But Ryan is clearly not one of those.

I actually believe that they are going to trade Allen in pre-season. I think Belichick sees some Johnny Hekker in Bailey.

Troy brown and kevin faulk are working as coaches or assistant coaches. Faulk is working with ivan fears and the rbs. I don't remember this in past years.

They way coaches left this team they need all the help they can get.

Not to mention they have tons of experience.

Great. We were running low on 7th rounders with a projected 4 already.
