Edelman contract extended

As great a slot that Welker was for the Pats, I'd take Edelman in a big game 10 out of 10 times over him.

Seems a good deal for the Pats. Get Edelman at $23.5m for the next three years, which is well under the amount other slot guys were getting (and Edelman is more than just a slot guy). Humphries, Shepherd, Lockett, Crowder, Tate, Williams all got more this off season and Edelman is better than all of them.

It's funny how reputations are changed on the finest margins. Edelman had a drop that led to an interception in the AFC Championship game against KC (and a possible fumble on a punt). He also had a number of drops in the Atlanta SB. If the Pats lose both then perhaps he gets the unfair Welker treatment.

True. But he'd STILL have one more Patriots SB ring than Welker........

Great news, well deserved.

Not if Asante could catch.

"If ifs and buts were candy and nuts........"

i.e. if Jaime Collins didn't freelance on that Denver TE in the 2015 AFCCG, the Squirrel would be behind only Brady and that Dallas/SF DT all-time in the NFL with 4 rings........

.

He has not, and he never will. As a slot WR, nobody is better than Welker.

BTW, this post of yours is one of the funniest you've ever made........given that you spent the past 5 years arguing that they played two completely different receiver positions and could not be compared........

We get it. Welker was the greatest slot receiver. Edelman was the better football player and Patriot.

The Patriots' success didn't end when Welker (and your other favorite, Mankins) left. It got better.

Nope. He was on the Bronco team that lost a SB but not the 1 that won.

Aha. Mea culpa. You are correct! He's ringless.

A great, great player, nonetheless who was a great Patriot and is unfairly maligned for that one play in SB 46.

But to compare him with Edelman?????????? No.

I didn't think so.

As a football player for the New England Patriots, it is not even close.

But nice lawyerly tactic to narrow it to "slot receiver".

If you're going to attack me in response to my posts, you should pay better attention to what's going on. I didn't narrow anything. Here's the post I responded to:

I believe Edelman has surpassed Welker as the best Patriots slot receiver ever.

So, no "lawyerly tactic" was involved. And, since you apparently couldn't be bothered to actually follow what was being discussed, our discussion will end here.

Evidently, your part will end here.

Mine will continue as I see fit, thank you.

You continued an argument with that poster that you had been pointedly arguing for 5 years was not an argument - - that they played two completely different positions and that it was foolish to compare them as similar positions. All of a sudden, today you decided to answer that poster on the subject of the same position. It's all there in black and white. As the GOAT HC says, "It is what it is".

In the meantime, I agree with you that as a narrowly defined "slot receiver" Welker was better.

The Patriots made the right move to go with the better football player over the slot receiver.

My part with you will end here, because you can't be bothered to read. I don't give a rat's ass whether or not you keep posting your nonsense.

Well done. Much more accurate post this time! :D

.

Why does Wes Welker have to come up in every Julian Edelman thread?

My first post was 100% accurate, and you're a ****ty troll. Go clown yourself with someone else.

Edelman is better than welker in every facet, including as a slot wr

If anyone wishes to argue that point, bring some facts
