well it seems there is some dead money involved but also frees up 2 million

I would be shocked if there will be any substantial dead money. There is a pretty good chance he will pay most of his signing bonus back and the 500k of guaranteed salary will be void.

see tweet.

Hilarious.

Did he attend the OTA's? Just wondering if this was something he had stewed for a while or if it was a Reggie Wayne style, "Oh s**t, they actually work on this team..."

He better not get one cent of his signing bonus right?

Ah, that's too bad. Well, next man up!

They would have a good case to get it back. But in the past when Wayne retired on them they didn't fight him for it.

I think they will get all of the $750K they gave him as a signing bonus less any short change that might have accrued from workouts....IF he attended any, or this OTA....a few thousand a most.

That might get them around $3MM at most in more cap space. Add another possible $2MM from Julian's extension and we're at somewhere around $8MM in space. That is STILL not enough to be in the ballpark to go after McCoy, or even Rudolph.

Personally I'd rather have the player. He gave us a level of assurance at the position. I don't doubt that Dante COULD have someone like Crossen ready to fill that role adequately. But I would have rather had a situation where Crossen just won the job from Jared, rather than have it handed to him.

OT could be a position that gets looked at closely when the final cuts come down in Septemberm or even a TC trade. Anyone know which teams seem to be "tackle rich"? There will certainly be teams that will be sniffing around the Pats on cut down day for DB's LB's, and RB's

Dante's good, but even he couldn't turn a CB into a LT ;)

Crossen might be a bit small to play OT.

This will likely end the team's search for OL, other than camp bodies.
Unless he retires prior to t-camp. We haven't had one of those in a few years :)
Italics = joking
Ummmm, WTF is this? How often does this happen with other teams? There should be a holiday named after these veteran signs/veteran retires signings.

So long Jared form Subway we never knew you.:)

Pats HOF?

We still need a back up swing/tackle.....we still don't know if Wynn can play...although Scars seems confident...

Goodbye OT Jared Veldheer.
