Jared Veldheer to retire

In his career, Veldheer has played in a total of 3 playoff games (1-2 record). This is obviously his best chance for a ring..... He could double his total this year..hopefully !!!

Veteran experience is valuable for the youngsters on the OL ....

Have any of us considered that even healthy Wynn is just not good enough to be a starting LT?

Think about it. Brown beat him out real quickly to the point that they were already working Wynn as a swing tackle in the 2nd preseason game when he hurt his Achilles. You would think they would have wanted Wynn to win that job and given him every chance to do so.

No, nor should it be considered.

This take couldn't be more wrong. For starters, he got injured when he was trying out for the RT1 spot. In other words, Brown might have beaten him out, but Wynn was in the process of stealing Cannon's spot.

Maybe a few years back but at this point its hard for me to rely on him to do any more than waddle did for us. If im wrong and hes a solid full timer still, I’ll gladly pay up the 6 mill.
I don't think you are wrong. He likely IS not going to do more than Waddle. The distinction is that, if healthy, be better at it than Waddle. I can envision heavy formations where Valdheer lines up at LT and the light footed Wynn lines up at TE.

This was a good pick up. The Pats might have gotten someone later on for a million less, but he wouldn't be as good. If Wynn is injured or is slower to develop than we expect Valdheer wouldn't be a huge drop off.

But like every year, the proof is in the pudding. let's see.

There’s your move. Lol so much for Ellington.

We don't really know that...Didn't the injury occur earlier in the pre-season?

Faster than the usual camp retirement.

Depth at tackle is thin again.

Wasn't he our OT insurance??

Well, then. Guess it was a good thing we drafted an OT. I guess Croston has a shot at making the 53 again this year. I hope Cajuste heals up quickly.

What's the story on his injury??

Well, what I was getting at is that they drafted Cajuste but still felt the need to sign Veldheer - possibly because of concerns about Cajuste's (and possibly Wynn's) heath. Of course Veldheer himself was coming off an injury too. Anyway, as long as BB and Scar are running the show there, I'm not concerned about the line.
