this should be interesting
Bruins.
We're five wins away from paydirt now, so here's my thoughts:they can do it
I'm impressed with the whole Bruins organization. After monumentally unjust robberies the last two playoff seasons (which turned me off from the NHL) they have taken what should be a discouraging situation and refused to quit. I am, as I have in the past, been impressed with their character.
Michael Hurley is frigging brilliant, and nails each point here:
Justin Williams Exposes Brad Marchand Double Standard And Other Leftover Bruins Thoughts
–There’s a game that people in New England play called “CAN YOU IMAGINE IF THE PATRIOTS DID THIS?!?!” It’s a pretty simple game; you observe a team doing something that happens all the time, but then you say, “CAN YOU IMAGINE IF THE PATRIOTS DID THIS?!?!” The results are wild, but most of the time, the conclusion is simple: If the Patriots were doing this? Buddy, the people would be losing their gosh dang minds.
Anyway, the Bruins commendably - and smartly - did with Tuukka what they did with Tim Thomas: Understand the fact that if you want to give yourself a chance to win the Stanley Cup, if you have a championship-caliber goaltender you keep him. Ignore all the stupid blather in the media. I cannot count how many times local media stated adamantly that both those guys had to go. In case you haven't noticed, the Bruins do not have a flashy, super-duper star on their team. Brad wasn't supposed to be one and the world keeps trying to dismiss him as a goon; but besides him being legit, the B's have the goaltending.
One game at a time. Let's do this.
