TE Kyle Rudolph trade idea

They can cut him at any time and it saves them the full $7.6M because there is no guaranteed money and no SB proration. As for the workout bonus, it depends on when that is set to be paid..

Yeah, I don't really get the point of that tweet. The June 1st designation only matters for purposes of spreading out dead cap hits, and Rudolph doesn't have any. I expect that if the Vikings cut Rudolph, they'll cut him sooner rather than later just because they're in such rough shape against the cap.

Riding the Austin Sefarian Jenkins train from here on out unless something changes.
With a great qb and coordinator I’m sure they’ll find ways to get this guy involved.
2nd rd pick38.

Not crazy about Rudolph.

Trade for him. The current tight ends are crap.
They indeed are, but I don't want to pay Rudolf $7.5M this season either.

Drafting a feckin RB, regardless of his prospects, instead of Dawson Knox was a Matt Millen choking on his own vomit from gagging on a kielbasa-sized Failure of a draft decision.

Ironic that you use a Walterfootball grading system phrase because apparently you have no originality when they graded it the best pick of the 3rd round

Lol the Walter grade was my first thought upon reading that post too.

I gotta say though, while I agree with that particular A+ grade and WF is my go-to because of its format, Walter frequently has some bad opinions about football and shows a lack of Patriots knowledge (for instance, he had CB as a huge need here when it's arguably our most stacked position).

He isn't really objective imo. He constantly trashes players for no reason.

THE "NEED" FOR A DEFENSIVE BACK
On the surface, there was no need. We have Gilmore, Jackson, and McCourty for 2020 at corner. We have McCourty, Chung, harmon and Brooks at safety.

We have Dawson and Crossen competing for reps, in 2019 and 2020, when Jones is likely to go.

Apparently, Belichick saw a need to bring in a top young corner, in addition to a 7th rounder. Perhaps Belichick understands that we could lose more than Jones in 2020. We could lose the McCourty brothers. We could lose Chung. And if none of this happens, we will have one more qualified defensive back.

Belichick seems to disagree and seems to think strong blocking TEs is all we need in our 2019 offense.

Beck, Izzo and LaCosse are all very capable blockers.

Even if they don't trade for him the Vikes could cut him outright anyway, in which case where do you think that old ringless vet will want to go play? The Patriots could very well know this and be speaking with the player through back channels.

Nobody knows what BB thinks, can we stop assuming so, or that this offseason is done.

The day to sign free agents where they don't count against the compensatory process is ahead of us not behind, there is still work to be done on the roster.

I wouldn’t touch Rudolph unless the Vikings cut him and we get him for $5 million or less

Uh-huh.
