Kyrie is to blame for 99 percent of it. he is the reason Stevens couldn't fix the bad chemistry. he also had a very negative effect on Tatum a very young impressionable player.
I hope this is the case. Otherwise we’re screwed.

Kyrie will rightly take a lot of heat but 2 things stood out to me the entire year. First, Tatum did not add to his game. He needs to be embarrassed by his performance this year and be more professional in preparing for next year. Second, for whatever reason, Stevens never got a handle on the bad chemistry and found a way to get the best out of the team. Listen, the Bucks are really good, but the effort in this series was poor.

Tatum was not the problem .....the celts need to get more athletic at the 4-5, and they need to bring in a physical PG

What did you expect
Ainge built a finesse team using 3 max dollar slots for 3 finesse players and Yannis ***** slapped the lot of them

This is very very sad for me. I have been almost as big a C's fan as Pats fan. I grew up in the Russell era. When I was 12 I won a pony in a name the pony contest. I enter because 2nd prize was a bike, and I didn't have one, but I won the freakin' HORSE (go figure) Was a young man during the Cowens era. Played for the C's front office tag football team in the mid - 80's. Rick Witzman, ML Carr, and Randy Vataha were teammates. I lived through the drought after the Bird years and Reggie died. I rejoiced in 2008 when "ANYTHING Is possible". I even postponed my bypass surgery until the series was over. And I thoroughly enjoyed last season.

Teams that were down 1-3 and playing on the road were 2-134, so I didn't expect them to win. BUT I didn't expect them to quit either....and that's what they did. This is like the 2007 Pats not even making the playoffs. What a wasted opportunity to just lay over, curl up and die like they did. They deserve all the bad press they they will surely get. Alas.

This is 80% Ainge's mess.....with a 20% discount because of Hayward's issues.

Ainge hitched his wagon to an entitled PG who quit on his last team.
Ainge kissed this guy's ass publicly and privately further inflating this guy's ego.
Ainge's multi-year grand plan of securing Anthony Davis inflicted significant psychological damage on his young trade-bait talent this season, a group already insecure about minutes and future contracts given their reduced roles due to the return of Irving and Hayward.
Ainge refused to break up some of the "talent" at the trade deadline preferring future trade chips instead of better fitting pieces for a real playoff run.
Ainge has spent all his max dollars on finesse players
Ainge refuses to draft certified shooters despite wanting an offense dependent on 23 footers.
Ainge hired a coach who may be better suited as a sensitivity counselor for millennials ....or a WNBA coach

I don't blame Ainge trading for Kyrie. I think its a trade any gm would have made. they took a shot. Isaiah Thomas was a free agent. and he was damaged goods. they gave up a first rd pick that became the 8th pick. if Ainge signs him this summer. then ill blame him.

You're right....Ainge had an extreme need and believed he upgraded Boston's PG position for two years and hopefully longer.....but.....
.......when Celtics history gets examined years from now, I'm betting Ainge will not be flattered by two truths:
1) Ainge traded for a psychologically damaged PG whose ego-driven issues were common knowledge , issues that took their toll on his first team.....and then repeated themselves in Boston.
2) Ainge's plan was to build his team around a smallish PG even after seeing the limitations of diminutive PG-centric offense first hand.
Can't fault him for trying.....but at the end of the day....wrong person, wrong positional emphasis....PG position still an issue

This was a hard season and series for me to watch. Boston sports, as a city, sets the bar for heart and grit. This Celtics teams was an embarrassment. Absolutely embarrassing.

My sentiments exactly, I also have been watching the Celtics since the 50's at one time they did an exhibition with the Lakers in Newport, RI ( may have been Milwaukee Lakers) and that was an up close and personal view of two very good teams..

So many memories of very memorable teams with tons of heart, this team showed me none of this.. I wanted to like them this year, but could not get into the NBA... this team quit early and we were told to wait for the playoffs, but then they quit in the playoffs as well..

Danny Ainge has a load of work to do to figure this out, I do not want Kyrie back and have to wonder if Hayward's problems and inconsistency has to do with the 4" between his ears rather than his broken leg.. super disappointed in this team. Stevens bears a lot of responsibility in dealing with the whole mess as well... blow it up and rebuild.

Under no circumstances should Kyrie wear Celtic green again.

Talented player but leadership is not one of those talents he possesses.

Good riddance Kyrie

The excuses being made for him are laughable. At least Horford sounds committed to staying. Bring back Rondo and let’s run! Rondo was actually a good leader aside from Dallas these last few years.

The Chuck 'n Suck offense is gripping
You can thank the boy blunder for that one. Couldn’t coach his way out of a wet paper bag this series even though he arguably had the more talented overall roster. HIGHLY overrated which is surprising coming from a region like New England where you see excellence in coaching firsthand.

Word has it that, upon seeing the result, Paul Pierce got so shocked that he fell over. Producers had to carry him to a nearby wheelchair and wheel him out of the studio. However, he jogged back in a couple of minutes later, no sign whatsoever of previous injury, and proceeded to record his best show yet.

Just crappy team chemistry on the court. You could see it all year.

I want Danny Ainge as the Celtic's GM over anyone in basketball.

It's this, and I'm not sure why there's a large segment of people overlooking the obvious.

Ainge acquires the best talent he possibly can for the team. That's a pretty undeniable fact. It is then the job of the head coach and the assistants to put the players in the best position to win.

That's on Brad "27-28 Playoff Record" Stevens. That's not on Ainge.

Kyrie's a nutjob, everyone knows he's a nutjob, but it's not like he's out going all Chiefs and beating up his girlfriend or something.

It was the job of Stevens to set the rotations. It was the job of Stevens to not run Hayward out there 30 minutes a night, when it was clear he didn't have it. It was the job of Stevens to not have Terry Rozier be the 9th man off the bench. It was the job of Brad Stevens to have an offense designed to the talent he had on the team. It was the job of Brad Stevens to make sure Jaylen Brown got the playing time he needed in order to settle in to the rotation (which he did far, far too late in the season). It was the job of Brad Stevens to pull Jayson Tatum aside, and work on his game, his confidence, to get him back to the level he was a year ago. A regression that bad is entirely the fault of the coach. It was the job of Brad Stevens to not put Guerchon Mother****ing Yabusele on Giannis Antetokounmpo during crucial minutes of a playoff game.

It's Danny Ainge's job to hold him accountable for that, and we'll see what he comes up with.

Kyrie's a dink, but he's not a bad player. Everyone feels bad for Hayward, but with few exceptions, he stole money from the Celtics this year. Jayson Tatum pulled a Bethel Johnson-level regression. Terry Rozier won't be within 500 miles of Boston next year. Neither will Kyrie in all likelihood. So we're going to run out Brown, Hayward, Smart, Tatum and Horford next year? That team's got no shot at a title.

Ainge and Stevens have a problem they couldn't have anticipated at the beginning of the year - us. The hard core Boston pro sports fans are disgusted by this, and it isn't the results, it is the effort and the attitude. An average team that plays its heart out will get far more support from Boston fans than a good team with even average effort. This is a good team (individual talent) that refused to make the sacrifices to become a good team (as a team). They've lost us.

Ainge has to rebuild the team from the heart out, not just replace a player or two.

Just like the Pats prioritize college team captains, in this draft I'd like for the Celtics to prioritize the remarkable attitude shown by players such as Edwards from Purdue and the kids from UVa. I know, I know, they draft for talent, so I'm being naive. But a guy can hope.
