What QB does Stidham compare himself to?

Not open for further replies.
We can only hope.

So we have a QB type.
Im curious why the Brisset pick then.
He doesnt fit the Jimmy Or Jarret profile.
Quick conpact release and athletic.
Brissett is more of a Phillip Rivers kind of QB.

BB doesn't draft QBs based on skills or need, he drafts them based on looks TB, Jimmy G, Bledsoe, Zo Stidham is just the latest in the long line of GQ worthy QBs

Brissett was found by Parcells who in no hyperbole compared his personality and intangibles to Bruschi, Troy Brown, Curtis Martin, and McGinest. Really great kid and leader.

I got ill at the "I was a big Peyton Manning fan" comment and never recovered

Can not teach pocket presence. Either have it by the time of the draft or don't. Yes Stidham is good looking and he may be a decent back up, but he is NOT Brady's replacement and never will be.

Interesting take.

Id pay a dollar for your archive take on Brady's pick on that fine April 16th 2000.
Maybe two.

I dont know who produced this video but its got a creepy vibe to it. Reminds me of those amateur porn video interviews before they do the deed.

I didnt think anything of Brady til the first training camp the remarks from Patriots weekly was if you didnt know any better you would think this was Tom's team.
From that point I was on notice.

The kid is accurate, throws downfield, protects from unnecessary INT's, and throws beautiful spirals. He's the best QB prospect we've brought in under BB's tenure after Jimmy G, he doesn't have to be the next Brady, he needs to learn from Tom and bulk up a little.

The presumption he isn't the QB of the future isn't a very good take, he has as good a chance as anyone and was a great value where he was drafted. His surrounding cast sucking last year was to our benefit.

I'd never question anyone's courage. That might be over the top.

That said if you actually watched Stidham play (assuming you have & did again when he was drafted) there's nothing wrong w saying he had trouble in terms of pocket presence/pressure at times.
It's not breaking news & goes back to 2017.

There's a lot to like about Stidham. I gave him a 3rd & actually really like him but beung honest about his concerns/flaws, w/e you want to call it isn't a bad thing at all.

Now again that poster was a lil much but we should be able to have an honest talk about a prospect in terms of both sides of the arguement.

Definitely a PTP from last year
(PTP) Jarrett Stidham QB/Auburn – "Transfer from Baylor. At times Stidham looked like a poised, accurate QB who would let a play develop and deliver a strike on time. Mechanically looks comfortable, feet/base are about shoulder length. Has some zip and a quick release. Looks the part. Has some arm talent. He also has some wheels to eat up unaccounted for yards. He’ll look to build on that momentum and could make a huge jump in Gus Malzahn’s offense. He’s very smart w/ + football IQ. He’s accurate but could work on throwing his wr’s open a little better. Mobile & tough. Stidham has to improve his pocket awareness as well but he has plenty of tools to work w/".

Regarding his pocket presence, how he dealt w pressure etc..
It should be noted Jimmy & Carr fwiw both had issues handling pressure in college as well. Not what you want to hear but its something that one can improve upon.
Even now you'll see Jimmy fight it but hes absolutely got better.

He's in as good a situation as there is for QB's in the NFL imo. People like to sh/t on the guys we drafted but they all still make a ton of money playing QB even if some are backups. Same goes for the coaches/fo types.

Anyway Stidham landed in the best possible spot there is. Easily one of the best staffs in football. Watching Brady up close. Exposed to the culture. I'm sure hes very happy even though he expected to go higher.

Go back and watch Stidham's sophomore year, last year his best WR tore his ACL before the season and they were initiating 5 new offensive linemen.

I don't want to rain on Stidham's parade, and he's welcome to compare himself to anyone he wants. But, here's the reality of being taken as the #7, or later, QB in a draft. Since the Brady year, here's what you can expect:

Definition of a hot take, they haven't even started OTAs yet. But thanks for the outlook, might as well cut him now.

At certain times in his career, Brady himself has received criticism for appearing too jumpy under a strong pass rush.
