Signing a Free Agent after that no longer affects comp picks, and there are some good players available.

Do the Patriots make a move in the next week or two?

Some intriguing players out there:

Allen Bailey
Jared Veldheer
Suh, Ansah, Collins

can we extend Brady at anytime or are there restrictions?

I think Suh and Ansah would command too much for now for us.

Bailey, Veldheer and Shelton appear to be options.

Veldheer was in NE for a visit. My money is on him on or soon after May 7.

All of the above on vet min contracts?

By my estimates assuming Brady gives back 4M at some point they have around 8M or so they can safely throw around while also keeping an emergency fund and putting a little away for 2020.

With Gilmore due to make nearly 19M next year I would think they would want to put a little extra aside to offset that.

How is Brady giving back 4 million? Are you expecting him to just forfeit part of his under market contract?

Veldheer has an injury history, so last week's visit could have been for a physical. Cole Croston is our swing tackle, or its the rookie Cajuste if he is healthy. Tackle could use some depth.

Bailey makes sense given loss of Brown/Shelton. Interior defensive line may be all set with Pennel, Guy, Butler, Parry. Bailey would add depth.

I assumed he meant when they sign brady to a 2-year extension that they can lower his cap number in 2019.

:DSuh, Ansah and Jaime Collins, all on vet minimums.

Seriously Suh was an animal for the first two plays of the Super Bowl, if you could get that guy to play for 60 minutes he would be great.

I'm thinking Ansah has a bad taste in his mouth of the mini-patriot way from Patricia, so I would count him out.

I can't see BB bringing back a guy he shipped out of town because he wasn't following the system.

Pats have $14,500,000 in Cap space right now.

You’ll never get Suh to play a full 60. When he played for the lions, the every week heartbreak after losing to any team over and over. He started just playing in the 1st half.

Suh won’t be worth whatever money he’ll demand. Some team like the Colts with crazy cap space will give him whatever he wants.

They should do NFL auction day...

Brady’s salary I think is $12mm. The standard approach to an extension is to convert current year salary to bonus and accrue it over the life of the contract. So current year cap cost drops. He gets the full bonus amount up front.

If healthy, they should sign Veldheer and Bailey.

Lots of decent names out there to pick from:

Corey Liuget, Nick Perry, Dion Sims, Mohammed Wilkerson, Terrance Williams, Bennie Logan, Bilal Powell, Danny Shelton, Manti Teo, Domonique Easley, Shane Ray, Chance Warmack, Dion Jordan, Ben Watson, Daryl Roberts, Malik Mcdoweel, DeAnthony THomas, Justin Hunter

I saw something claiming Ansah might get $14m a year. That’s shocking but would obviously put us out of the running.

I expect Veldheer to sign and maybe Bailey. Also am expecting Ben Watson shortly too.

Ok. He didn’t say that he said Brady was “giving back 4 mill”

I expect him sign a new contract and take a pay cut like last year cause that's what he usually does, but who knows.

I saw the Patriots at 12M with the top 51. Adding in the draft picks and practice squad along with player 52 and 53 I'm estimating they will have about 8M when all is said in done in space, Add in Brady redoing his contract which i think he will and that gives them 12-13M. Purely by my estimation that is so this isn't a fact.

I assume they will want to carry at least 5M into the season so that's why I'm saying they can spend around 8 if they choose too. Am I right? I have no idea. I'd love to hear from someone who knows more.
