Ranking QB situations following the NFL Draft (We are #7 (?))

I might switch off #2 Green Bay with Rodgers and Kizer for #6 Philly with Wentz and Foles. I think we should be placed at somewhere between 5-7 (Brady's age a factor).

Seems fair, even if it might not be accurate. We might disagree with the slotting, but N.E. is rated ahead of N.O. and Pitt, and it's obvious that age of the starter played a part in the rankings.

True. They also consider the quality of the backup players.

I don't think you can ignore the durability factor of Rodgers, Wentz and Luck where they've missed significant time 2 of the last 3 years each.

Mahomes very well might be a HOF for all we know but it's been one year. Granted only Marino has had that type of success statistically out of the gates but you have to balance that with all the guys who the league has figured out after that initial success. I'm not saying he'll be RGIII but I think he's going to come back to the pack a bit especially if he's without Hill and he already lost Hunt. Watkins is another injury prone guy he won't be able to depend on.

I also wonder how McVay and Goff will adjust now that Bill showed teams how to stop them and they had zero answers. Offseason to adjust and plan you would think they would have it figured out but in a SB not changing up at all was disturbing if I'm a fan of that team.

Foles signed w Jax.

Ridiculous

Mahones has 1 post season win to his name and has yet to survive year 2 of an NFL QB. Defensive Coordinators have had all off season to study his films and find tendacies. BB shut his axx out in the first half of the AFCC

Henne is a bum.

Brady is a 6 time world champ with no signs of slowing down. This 2019 team has the appearance of being better than 2018 squad.

Harry could be the best Brady WR since Moss in terms of going up and taking the ball out of the air.

Harris is paired with Sony. This looks like the best NE run game in BBs history as NE HC.

Let’s be real. Unless you have some kind of Brady-Garoppolo, Wentz-Foles or Smith-Mahomes (none exist anymore), then this should be determined with 95% of the formula based on your starter.

If you polled all 32 NFL GMs and asked which team has the best quarterback situation, my guess is all 32 would pick the team with the 23-year-old All Pro. That's as good as it gets.

Especially on a rookie deal. In 1-2 years it's a different story.

Still think Mahomes is overrated. He is good. He had an exceptional season. We’ve seen this before (band wagon after one season) and history has shown that the initial excitement rarely translates to sustained success.

I want to see him do it twice more before the Canton bust.

Have we, though? Can you find any other QB whose first season came within shouting distance of this who didn't amount to much in the long run?

66% completions, 5,097 yards, 50 TDs, 12 INTs, 113.8 passer rating

Agree on these three points, and am :) at this ray of highly optimistic sunshine from you.

No. Only one close would be Marino and his career was pretty good although never matched his sophomore season.

I don’t think we can judge whether he’s “overrated” until we see more of him...maybe “overhyped” is a better word.

I don’t disagree that Mahomes was so good we are past “possible fluke” stage. Barring injuries it's a near certainty he's a starting, and probably star quarterback.

However, I've rewatched the AFC Championship game numerous times, and he was dog crap in that game. His stats may say one thing, but his actual play said quite another. He is (understandably, with his experience) very far away from an elite QB and not in Brady's stratosphere. It's far from a given that he will be an all-time great when it becomes to decision and mastering the cerebral game. As we saw with both Goff and Mahomes, a lot of their success was due to have a great supporting cast and defensive coordinators still figuring out their weaknesses. There have been a slew of QBs who looked unstoppable but peaked in year 2/3. Just a few years ago, a lot of these same GMs had Derek Carr has a sure-fire top-5 QB to build a franchise around due to his age and assumed continuous improvement.

Alex Smith's numbers in 2017: 67.5%, 26 TDs, 5 INTs, 104.7 rating. A career year in that offense with those players.

Totally fair, I'm not about to claim that Mahomes is a sure-fire great. It will take years to know. I'm just saying that with the evidence currently available, anybody who could choose a QB to lead their team going forward would choose him.

Agree with you. There isn't much not to like about him. And on top of that, it's fun to watch him play. I would take him as a young franchise QB if I were a GM as well.

what can be said is that our run game was very good last year. 127 ypg. In the last 5 games 178 ypg. We'll see how much losing Brown hurts us. But Wynn was an exceptional run blocker in college and should have great chemistry with Michel and DS will coach him up.

Our best running game was in 2004 and we could top that in 2019.
