2018-19 Stanley Cup - Bruins vs Blues

Apparently, only Ovechkin has more playoff goals (50) this decade than Couture (43).

That's impressive. Very underrated player.
And he's a stud on the PK. Excellent all-around player.

Several years back, Columbus was shopping Nash. Thornton lobbied to get him in SJ to reunite with his Olympic linemate. Columbus insisted on Couture in return. SJ said NFW and this was before Logan blossomed. Thank God.

Regards,
Chris

While they don’t seem to be getting much from Marchand, just imagine what they’d look like without him. Yikes.
well, we might find out. because there's a chance he gets suspended. I thought he was over the stupid unnecessary nonsense.

Marchand is a dope, but listening to Scott Hartnell chastise him on NHL Network is ridiculous. Hartnell never met a back he didn't want to hit into the boards.

Chris

Honestly better that he plays. Let the Blue Jackets decide his punishment.

It was stupid and self indulgent on Marchand's part but the idea he would be suspended for something that would only have drawn a 2 minute minor if a ref caught it with time on the clock just wasn't credible and neither is anyone that seriously thought it would.
im not credible then. i thought there was a chance with marchands history the league might come down on him.

The operative word was serious, lol. I'd like to think had you given it serious thought you would have dismissed it. ;)
Realistically, if this were the regular season I'd expect a fine. Considering the amount of money players get per round it would be insult to injury to hit Marchand with any type of fine that wouldn't be laughable.

C'mon Bruins!!!!

Thursday is a must win!

Think the Jackets win this series, either 5 or 6. Felt like we were lucky to not be down 0-2 after the Boston slate.

i dunno

its been two pretty even teams, but after 3 games its looked to me like the bruins floor is 1 win w/ how play has gone so far, and their ceiling is 3, I think the actual play would if translated to scoring would have bruins up w/ a minor edge

As much as Football is a game of inches, hockey is more so. The Bruins could just as easily be up 3-0 in this series as down 0-3. Winning in OT game 1, losing in Double OT in game 2, hitting at least 6 posts in game 3 and only losing 2-1, etc.

The BJ's aren't doing anything fancy. They play tough, physical hockey, clog up lanes, and block shots. While Bob has been really good, the posts have been a huge asset to him, as have the wide open whiffs the Bruins have had on open one-timers. Similarly, he's given up some juicy rebounds. His flailing around and the BJ's tough D has made him look better than he is, imo. He's been really good, but not unstoppable.

The B's need to put Backes back in (he was skating with 2nd line today) and get back to winning board battles, getting pucks in deep, and putting people in front of Bob to hinder his vision and put in some juicy rebounds.

The Bruins are a better team than the BJ's and I still think they'll pull this out.

Nope. I said this after game 1. This one is going the full 7.

you have more confidence in how the NHL rules. and decides on who and why they suspend players than i do. it wouldn't have surprised me in the slightest if the league suspended him for punching a guy in the back of the head. while he's on his knees not looking.

its looking a lot like the series against tampa last year.

I have confidence in the league's sense of enlightened self interest. It isn't going to willingly open a couple of cans of worms if they can avoid them. DeBrusk got the living snot whacked out of him with nothing called and Harrington (the guy Marchand hit) was one of the guys doing it. Even if it is Marchand it's hard to justify suspending a guy from Boston and ignoring what Columbus' players were doing without getting called for it invited retaliation. Outside of being done plain sight it was pretty routine tit for tat stuff and in terms of suspensions the league isn't touching that. Fines would be a crap storm for them with the union, since players don't get paid other than small playoff share.

With the way Bob is playing it really is. They could move the puck and score on Anderson. Thats not the case here.

That BJ D and Bob is a fortress.

I disliked the news from the link @captain insano posted. I think Marchand should have been suspended for targeting the head area. He's a repeat offender.
That's a love tap. Stupid/rat-like? Absolutely. Suspension-worthy? Not even close. He tapped him with the glove. Watch the pushing/shoving/cheapshots that happens after each whistle.
