I didn't love this pick at first, but when I saw someone recontextualize it as an answer to TEs around the league, I came around. Chung has been getting the job done in that area much better than expected, but he's got limits due to his height and is on the wrong side of 30. Whether it's covering tall WRs in the redzone or TEs all over the field, there's always a good use case for someone who's 6'4" and can cover.

I initially worried this might create an unnecessary logjam at CB until Jones leaves in free agency and Gilmore reaches his 30s, but now I see him as playing a different role, so I'm not as concerned.

How does Dawson have great potential? He pretty much just sucks like Cyrus Jones.

OMG. Dawson pulled a hamstring in the pre-season and made it back too late in the season to make a difference. He's basically still a rookie. He was a terrific corner at Florida. Dawson, Sam and Bentley should all make a difference in their 2nd year after missing most or all of 2018.

He wasn't anything special in college, why would he be in the nfl?

I can't think of a Pats draft pick in the BB era who missed most of their rookie year and became an impact starting secondary guy for us later

This is accurate, unfortunately. Let's hope Duke breaks that streak.

Gonna be lots of competition in camp...May the best man win ! In BB we Trust

He'll be worth the pick if i never have to see Kelce do that stupid dance ever again. :D

Because that happens every season in the league, just like top prospects being busts.

They're still going to have to take somebody off to put him on the field.

He didn’t look surprised at all when he got the phone call. I think he pretty much knew NE wanted him.

I thought (posted) corner was a serious option even at #32 and certainly in the second.

With expected deep run on DL, OL in the 1st round . going for top CB prospect in the 30-50 range was probably the best value of this draft. This seemed good and deep CB class punished by historical DL quality plus combination of quality OL class and always dry/extremely expensive OL market.

There was expected run at CB happening at the top of second round so moving up was necessary ahead of CLE who also took CB.

This pick puts pressure on entire DB group and will have trickle-down effect all the way to the special teams. Despite new contracts and guarantees Gilmore and Chung could be the only safe bets to be on the team week 1 (J-Mac probable w 3.5 signing bonus). J-Mac's possible further transition towards FS might ironically put pressure on D-Mac and his contract..

Looking at his (admittedly) highlight reel, what I saw was someone who loved to tackle, whether WRs or running backs. I could see him playing a hybrid safety role where he covered tight ends but also ended up patrolling running plays as well. I'm sure BB loved the way he tackles.

At 39:50 Matt Miller says he’s been told the Pats are moving Joejuan Williams to safety “like the Patrick Chung role” FWIW.

Trey Flowers says hello. I know you said secondary. But, Dowling is really the only high pick who was hurt and couldn't make it back. Other busts were healthy .
