Remember, we only signed hoyer because Jimmy G was traded and we needed a backup for Brady. Hoyer beat out 7th round pick Etling last year but Im betting that Etling is gone and if Stidham beats out Hoyer, We will release or trade Hoyer and Stidham will be QB2 but if Hoyer beats out Stidham, itll be straight to the practice squad.

I hope this is the LAST Stidham thread for the next 2 years because that will be the next time Jason Stidham will be relevant. (unless you bet pre-season games. ;) )

We have carried 3 QBs before and since he was a 4th round pick he is a lock to make the roster so no practice squad.

Brady, Hoyer, Stidham makes the team.
Etling - PS

Bailey replaces both Allen and Gost (I KID!!!!)

Hoyer is a scout team wizard. He adds value there ...more then being QB2. If anything...Stidham replaces Etling.

I think this is something that will play out over TC. If either young guy shows enough promise to be the number 2, then I'd like to see Hoyer go. He does not inspire confidence.

The early scouting reports seem to indicate that Stidham is not going to be ready to be the #2, which would mean that both he and Hoyer stick around.

I also would love to see one of the younger guys supplant Hoyer, but the fact remains that if Alex Guerro accidentally tears Brady's ACL today by rubbing his knee too vigorously....Hoyer is our week 1 starter. He remains the only QB on the roster other than Brady that has ACTUALLY attempted a pass in a NFL regular season game (not to mention, he was QB1 for at least two other teams).

My first thought is that the kid will likely be on the roster as the QB3. But we've got a long way to go before we get to training camp, never mind game one of the season.

Stickman could be down the road after camp.

Jimmy G was ready to play and Hoyer can step in and run the club during live action.

If Hoyer doesn't make the team on his own merit ask him to join the staff as an assistant coach.

Do you think we'll win more games with Hoyer as QB or Wildcat? :D

Hoyer...until I see Michel handle the ball better.....

Stidham is not capable of beating out Hoyer until he learns the playbook.
Etling on the other hand will be Hoyer's competition this year or ...

Never know Etling and Hoyer could go for a veteran signed that was cut elsewhere.

Making predictions about Etling is impossible. We have absolutely no idea how well he did last year as a training player. He wasn't going to beat out Hoyer until he learned the playbook, regardless of how well he played. He was given a redshirt year on the practice squad. Now he should know the playbook and be ready to go, either play go, or he sucks and leave the team go. Worst case, he can probably be on the practice squad again this year.

Etling is a goner. Most probably before camp. There are only so many reps to go around and even the QB3 often only gets the leftovers. A QB4 would just stand around doing nothing.

Thank you...I think people are too quick to pull the trigger on Danny Etling we don't know. He spent a year in the system...I remember my First impression of Brady a noodle arm crap QB. How did he turn out I loved Michal Bishop. If Casse Keenum can become a serviceable QB in this league then Etling could have a similar or slightly better ceiling.

Sure, but most of the time guys who look like scrubs... are scrubs. Brady is the 1 in a billion outlier.

I was so proud of Danny Etling ! At least for a few seconds...
