Bill's second round history with CBs suggests that maybe he'd be better off taking scott99’s CB analysis skills and 43 minutes of youtube film review on his MacBook Air with PornHub bookmarked over his own.

Works for me

I believe it went something like this...

Taster#1: Ew, this **** tastes right old.
Taster#2: We’ll have to up the ABV.
Taster#1: What the feck will we call this swill?
Taster#2: Somethin’ classy.
Taster#1: How about, Not Bile.
Taster#2: Ha! Might as well say, Gutter Face Plant or Straight Piss.
Taster#1: You know who’s classy? Shakespeare, and that English actor gay guy.
Taster#2: Olivier?
Taster#1: Cary Grant.
Taster#2: We’d get sued. Right, how about simply, Old English?
Taster#1: Ye old English.
Taster#2: Olde English.
Taster#1: The taste of the Middle Ages.

I'm sorry we don't return the compliment: Buckfast Tonic Wine (aka Bucky or wreckthehoosejuice) is made by genuine monks. What could be classier than that!

Checkmate indeed.....NOT. Did you watch any film on the guy ? Besides the lack of speed being a negative, I noticed he is VERY handsy, which with the new PATRIOT’S rule (they only mentioned a play in the SB for the new rule) Williams will be a yellow flag machine. May be able to get away with that in college, but not in the NFL anymore. Also noticed, he has the “doesn’t turn around for the ball disease”, which plagued many bad Patriot’s DBs in the past. I love our DBs now, we are well stocked, therefore I hated the move, missing out on key offensive weapons this team needs, especially in an elite TE class, especially at the top end.

If the Pats were trading up for a CB, the only one worth trading up for at that moment, was Greedy Williams, Who is also big, but a much better athlete who depends on his speed, 6’2” 185 and ran a 4.37. Which would allow him to cover all types of receivers. Nowhere but on the Pat’s draft board, was Williams rated above Greedy Williams. Not surprisingly, Greedy went the pick after JoeJuan.

Look, I’m a Patriot’s fan first, I’ll be rooting for JoeJuan like crazy, I hope he becomes the next Gilmore. But I don’t see it. I am thinking, even at 4.55 speed (improved from 4.6), best case scenario, he switches to safety. Which will be a big need with McCourty and Chung getting up there in years.

But it wasn’t needed THIS year. And I thought it was a bad move, especially with key elite offensive weapons still there and needed.

You say Joejuan is “handsy” but then say we should have drafted Greedy. One of the criticisms of Greedy is that he’s “handsy” - and the fact that he doesn’t tackle which just wouldn’t fly on a BB team.

I don’t think you should be thinking of Joejuan as simply an outside corner. He’s a tool to move around. He’ll be on the Alston Jeffrey’s and Noah Fant’s of this league and if he’s on the outside, he’ll likely get safety support with Gilmore playing on an island. I can see Joejuan in the slot and at safety as much as he’ll be on the outside in a traditional CB role - he’ll go where the matchup requires.

I think you meant "outside corner".

Actually, I watch a lot of SEC football, but thanks for assuming you know me. Also I watched a lot of JoeJuan Williams highlights the minute I heard he was linked to the Pats. There are several reasons I didn’t like the move and I listed them above.

The issue being that your main line of reasoning "he is slow" is just absolutely meaningless. Given his size he has close to elite quickness which for his most probable role is much more important than straight line speed. And to make things worse he is not even slow in terms of straight line speed but right in the pack when it comes to CBs.

And then you top it all off bringing up someone who seems to be allergic to tackling which is one of the biggest cardinal flaws you can have through the prism of BB team building.

If all of that is truly your opinion after intense CFL watching then maybe you should do something else with all that time. That is if you didnt really just kneejerk react to combine stats as many others.

Last year's draft was great - without it we don't win the SB; I don't care if it was only one player for now.

Sony was great, and key for us winning but in terms of draft picks being active and contributing that was less so. We had some key undrafted players play.

It's not that I dont like this class. I do, a lot. That said Wynn was the highest graded player we ever drafted since I started doing this. Probably wouldn't have gone Sony Rd1 but he was as much PTP as anyone recently.

Had a 2nd on Dawson & I love that we essentially, potentially, have to "match-up" DB's in JJ & Dawson. Dawson in nickel/slot, S & JJ looks like a bully on the outside that will get TE, Big WR/Maybe Big slot duties.

Jackson, Bentley, Crossen etc

Again though Wynn just puts it over the top for me. Still feel gut punched from that injury & others tbh.

Hopefully the last 2 classes stay healthy & we get a bit of luck w either Gordon or Gronk coming back.

I was (and still am a little bit) down on missed opportunity at the top of 2019 Draft for NE.
It was probably (in part) a consequence of missing out in free agency (WRs, Cook).

If I forget about that (not easy since opportunities like this don't come often for winners) -- 2019 has every chance to produce 7 starters/rotational players and amazing locker room..

There is nothing not to like about 2019 rookies (and i am so grateful to BB and co. that i can always enjoy the persons as well as players) - i just don't feel the elite player will come out of this crop like they got in Sony and i still believe they will in Wynn and Bentley - and the class seemed to offer enough of them.. (Bailey might be the best elite bet from 2019)

While NE 2018 Draft was a master class for the ages imo . i guess we can all agree about the big picture here: Pats wonderful vet core team is getting the infusion of two great and numerous draft classes this year and it should be joy to follow..

p.s.
I believe Duke and JoJu can create a perfect matchup blend and i hope it materializes..

Oh, hello, Tessie. I knew that ending my post with a comment about the presence of a few Patfans miserable pukes would pull you away from your autographed Isabella photo, which by now has surely been wrinkled by your tears. Very persuasive argument, cherry picking a small number of 2nd round picks while ignoring BB’s overall stellar CB record.

Where does BB rank all time as a CB evaluator, in my opinion?

You said it, buddy.....numero uno.

The Patriots have drafted 40 players in those rounds over the last 10 years. Of those 40, 21 are still in the league.

This is the most impressive and surprising stat that I have seen in years -- a testament to the Patriots drafting AND coaching. I'd love to know how that compares to the overall league average.
