This Corporate Crowd Is Making Me Cringe

Yeah, you’re not even close.

I know a girl who went to last year’s draft as one of those “sit up front” people and I talked to her about it. She went with an STHer so rest assured, the people there are authentic, hardcore fans. There was a lot more “floor space” last year. Each team had about 100 people whereas this year it looks like 25 per team.

Nobody got paid although there was some swag (draft cap, signs, beads...). Yes, they were told in advance that they had to wear team gear at the event. Is the enthusiasm a little fake? Well, maybe.... If we’re being honest then I bet once we get outside the top 10, most fans have no idea who most of the draft picks remaining are... but WTF are they supposed to do? Start booing when the team announces a pick? We’re not the Jets.

Do teams set aside a bloc for corporate sponsors and club seats holders? Well, probably.... but I just don’t see it as some sort of incredibly prestigious thing to do (like going to the Super Bowl).... if you’re just a corporate type who is not an enthusiastic fan of the team, is it really something you’d want to travel 1,000 miles to do?
I think it’s definitely more of an issue this year than last years. They can’t get as much authenticity in Nashville like they did in the Philadelphia.

It was Dallas (Arlington) last year but that’s a legit point.

Ahh that’s right. Philly before that. Either way point still applies

The thing that always gets me is when they do a closeup of various team fans and they always seem to shout "Number one, yeah baby!" Number one of what? Even saw a Browns fan doing that. In what alternate universe do they live?

Who wants to be a Vikings fan this year?

The NFL has become so premeditated and fake. The guitars on the Nashville set.

They are not necessarily mutually exclusive.
In deference to the convivial atmosphere @Ian strives for here I will not post my thoughts regarding the brie eaters that make up the bulk of the folks in club seating. I will say whenever we used my previous employer's corporate seats our enthusiasm seemed a bit much for the folks around us, yet in our regular section I don't think you could hear us over the other real fans in it.
We don’t rate fanhood. There are no standards for being the right kind of fan and we all have our pet peeves fanwise.

For me, the boozed up loudmouths really get on my nerves. I see 60 year old fans acting like they’re in college. I don’t make a lot of noise when I’m at a game, but I’ll high-5 or fist bump. It’s not in my nature to scream all night at my age...I’m one of those 60 year old guys!

So as you judge more reserved fans, remember, they’re judging other fans as well

I didn’t care about the fans, seemed like they were having a good time to me. What I hated was how they now have to do a personal back story about how every player is just playing for a dead relative, accompanied by elevator music.

Maybe some booze would loosen you up?

I think the trolling of the home team by a rival has gotten pretty weak as well. Reggie Wayne's attempt was embarrassing and contrived. When Willie did it to the Jets that was funny and authentic. Drew Pearson's was good and David Akers was over the top but funny. Now everybody is going to have to do it. I just don't think Nashville fans are that intense nor did it seem like they showed up in numbers. Even the University of Tennessee or Vanderbilt players only got the applause everybody else did.

Plus they did boo the Fuhrer nearly hard enough.

I know not this 'we' you speak of. No doubt the Pats opponents appreciate your reserve as they come up to the line.

Agree with pittpatriot and ivan

For me is a good idea to make open in the streets draft

Tons of people and lovely atmosfera

I liked it a lot

I would hv liked to be there

Haven’t had any since ‘89. When I drank, I was even quieter. I’ll yell and get excited for TD’s and great plays, I just don’t do that screaming thing when the other team has the ball.

Hey, I’m glad others like to do it as long as they don’t spill their beer on me!:D

I’m good either way. At least the next morning my head is clear and I have my beautiful voice

I don't know if I'd call Dallas, Philly and Chicago "small markets". Nashville, yes but it's a great tourist destination even if you're not into Country music...

Nashville is supposedly the #1 destination for Bachelorette Parties in the US. Supposedly a lot of unhappy brides to be with all the football fans in town..
