Allen had an amazing sb and mostly been solid but could certainly use a chance at an upgrade there if this guy can provide one. Younger and cheaper, reminds me of the circumstances with going to allen from mesko who i also thought did a fine job for us.

Not sure if ghost can no longer boot the ball through the ez consistently or bb just likes to test his ko covg, but with how our ko covg performed since the no running start rule was put in every kick should just be going through the end zone.

This was pretty much the only pick that made no sense. Had they not resigned Allen I'd maybe get it. Seems like a wasted pick to me.

Not really happy about this pick. I think he will be poached by another team if he makes it to the practice squad, so Bailey has to beat out Allen for the job in order for him to remain a Patriot. Allen can still punt really well so it's a toss-up who makes the team. If Bailey gets poached then this would be a waste of a pick.

Is it possible to keep him around with Allen next year? He probably wouldn’t want to be IR’d?

Belichick has kept every 4th round pick since he came. There are good players available in the 4th.

He is going to get a serious case of turf toe ... out for the year ... and we keep both.

We have a 50% chance that a 5th rounder will beat out a starter, and this is a terrible pick?

We re-signed an insurance policy with Allen, a 1-year contract with $100K guaranteed. If we didn't find someone better, then we've lost a 5th. Otherwise, we gain 3 years and save $1M this year and more next.

I agree. The draft is 4 rounds long. There are no good players in the 5th. They picked the punter in the 5th. You shouldn't watch day 3 because it sucks.

Is he a coach on the field?

This Allen vs Bailey competition is going to be so confusing when they sign Allen Bailey in a few weeks.

Could anyone see coming the way Patsfans would react after the team trades up to take a punter in the 2019 draft?

Patsfans, it's important to remember that past behavior is a good indicator of future behavior. Not the least surprised to see the Patriots show disinterest/contempt for the 5th round, as they have for at least a decade now. Even less surprised to see how many people can just never seem to remember the ways that their team operates.

Allen was had a great SB53 but was below average overall. Bailey will probably replace him.

Over 65% of NFL roster’s come from rounds 4-7. Now if your point is that the vast majority of us don’t know what we are talking about when it comes to these picks then I agree. However this Draft Forum actually has a number of poster’s who actually have some insight in these picks, but most of us don’t know jacksh.t about them.

If Bailey has a strong showing in camp I would expect Belichick to trade Allen for a mid round pick next year.
