I really like it. I see 4 guys that can be pretty regular contributors right off the bat (first four), 2 ol that should provide solid depth and may eventually become starters, and four interesting prospects with potential - perhaps a new punter we’ll see.

Of course that all remains to be seen but i do feel as good as i can remember about a draft.

Your first mistake is in caring what career pessimists like Deus think.

The only thing better than this draft was I found out that they sell Lucky Charm marshmallows in big bags.

I think this was, on paper, one of the best drafts of the BB era. Lots of terrific picks and really no head-scratchers. Even drafting the punter...well, ok, maybe that one. But otherwise, just a series of excellent moves. And they are loaded for the 2020 draft as well.

Cutting Burkhead's contract saves $1M. Also, I think it wrong to have 3 RB's with no real backups. We should have a 2 RB rotation, even if it is a 80-20 rotation, plus a 3rd down receiving back. That's three RB's. ONE backup is NOT too much.

Bolden and Develin should not be counted on ass running backs, although Bolden is fine for a few reps in garbage time or in emergencies.

Cowart may make this team at DT. I'm fine with Guy and Pennel as starters. I'm also fine with re-signing Shelton.

I'd say we filled every need except TE. So if BB can finagle another decent TE from camp cuts or trade we should be ready to start the season with a pretty stacked roster.

Overall I'll give this draft a B+ grade ight now, if Harry turns into a bona fide #1, like I think he can, then this draft gets an A.

I truly admire the confidence Belichick has that he can create a new version of the team every year. This draft (health aside) has players that will have the opportunity to help the quest for 7.
Add to that the players from last year that health wise didn't get the chance - a huge task that Belichick at least on the surface makes it all look seamless.

With Wynn, Sam, Bentley, Izzo, Berrios, and Dawson (really) coming back and the addition of this big class, including an interesting UDFA LB and a couple of potential pleasant surprises in UDFA WR, and with 4 qbs, this is going to be a fun preseason.

Danny Shelton won't cost much. I'd love to see them get Bailey, but he's not the fatty in the middle...more like the hulk on the end.

It's difficult not to be fond of this draft mainly because the Patriots have brought in guys who appear to fit the Patriots mold of player, were highly productive college players, significantly improved the team's depth and added match up dynamics to the roster. If I'm being picky, through trades or free agency, I'd like to find some more depth or starter potential at TE, DL and LB but outside of that, this roster looks Super Bowl caliber... again.

According to Gregg Rosenthal on the Around The NFL podcast, “supposedly”, the Patriots were interested in Kaleb McGary at 32 until the Falcons traded up for him. He doesn’t say where he heard that or whether we were definitely taking McGary but just passing it on.

Day One - I didn’t love the pick at the time. I was okay with it but would have preferred AJ Brown. I’ve come around on it significantly since because I’ll think he’ll replicate some of those tough over the middle yards that Gronk got. Some of you may remember that I was talking about Hakeem Butler doing that in another thread so I’m glad that might happen with Harry (PFF grades him as the best at it in the draft class).

Day Two - Love, love, love this day. It’s right up there with the 2012 day one in terms of positive vibes. Aside from losing my binky McLaurin, day two was almost perfect in terms of adding really good young prospects for the future.

Day Three - Punter aside and the big gap between the punter and our 7th round pick, I really liked this day too. Froholdt is a really good addition (we’re pretty good at drafting fourth round interior OL) and Stidham has the talent to be a possible franchise guy given plenty of time. Cowart is an interesting addition with some upside. Not as fun as day two, but If Froholdt becomes Thuney’s long-term replacement, it’ll have been a success.

UDFA - Two really interesting WRs with quite a lot of upside and a safety with mid-round talent but UDFA athleticism. There’s a definite possibility that at least one of those could be on our final roster in September.
