Welcome to the Patriots Byron Cowart

270 pound defensive lineman who looks mis-used at Auburn on the video below. I wonder if he can convert to the edge or linebacker. His tape shows a mauler who can run. It looks like he's carrying too much weight for his frame to play DL.

I expect he’ll probably lose some weight and move to EDGE.

It's only one game but it was an impressive one. Looks like he'd be at home more as a big DE than a DT.

He was the top football recruit in the country coming out of high school and went to Auburn. Honestly had no idea he had ended up at Maryland.

This is excellent tape as far as getting to see everything. I hate the elevator music though...

He seems surprisingly solid in the things he does. I'm warming up to this pick. He may only have a few things you ask him to do but he has a good chance to do them well. Solid tape. Not a ton of eye popping stuff but very nice. Lots of double team eating too.

Lots of video on him apologizing for wasting his time at Auburn. It happens. Lots of kids aren't ready for college and have no self-discipline or adequate supports to handle the situation. This guy is a project with big upside. Byron Cowart, meet Jerod Mayo!

This is the draft equivalent of trading for someone else’s draft bust for cheap.

on that second scout tape looks like poor man's Trey Flowers

id guess competition for Keionta & Kamalu as run stopping, pocket pushing DE with potential rushing development..

Interesting body type. He looks like an over-sized linebacker but looks strong enough to remain at defensive tackle. He is the kind of pick I like seeing us make late in drafts. You can clearly see some potential from this former 5 star recruit.

Put him on Hightower's diet and move him outside.

Cue the Hogwart jokes ........

Learn from Bennett year one, take his job year two?

He looked horrible at Auburn and was fooled by the play many times not one of his better tapes. He looks very Geno Gruesomeish.:D

This dude was lucky to be drafted at all. No way he makes it past Cut-Down Day. We'll see if Bill deems him worthy of signing even to the PS.

If Bill was looking for that particular type of DT at #159, then he should've gone with Arkansas' Armon Watts, and he wouldn't have had to foolishly throw away #239 to do it either.
