I'm cautiously optimistic with the pick. I definitely didn't see them taking him at 32 but thought he might be in play with 56 or 64.

The good: Amazing body control both in the air and on the sidelines. He's going to be a major red zone threat. He also has terrific hands and concentration. He makes catches with defenders wrapped all over him. He has the same type of power to run through people that Gordon has shown during his career.

The bad: Doesn't get a lot of separation. The 4.53 speed with his height and wingspan is fast enough but I do wonder if he'll consistently win at the next level. The pessimist in me sees Chad Jackson and Aaron Dobson. They did draft him a lot higher so Bill definitely saw something he really liked.

The questions: Can he pick up the offense? I think it would be worth the Patriots paying Randy Moss to coach the kid during the offseason so he understands what Tom wants. Randy's football smarts were always underrated. If he picks it up and Gordon stays on the straight and narrow that will be the first time since Moss and Stallworth that Brady has had two big outside threats.

I quoted my post from the Harry thread in the main forum so rather than retype it all.

While I'm somewhat surprised the Raiders took Ferrell that high I did have him rated above Allen.

Detroit: Hockenson
Miami: Wilkins
Atlanta: Lindstrom
Titans: Simmons

Is anybody shocked all these teams with Patriots ties took all the players we wanted for the Patriots and hoped they would slide?

What a great trade for the Broncos. You get a guy at 20 everybody loved and pick up a second. The Steeler better pray this kid stays healthy and performs at the level they think. I think he's going to be really good but for a LB that's a high price.

For all the talk of Snyder going nuts the Skins did really well getting Haskins and Sweat.

I don't know about Jones at #6. That way too rich for my blood. I don't see a huge difference between Jones and Lock so somebody is going to get a bargain today.

The list of available players is awesome. The Pats should be able to add a couple of guys who will make good contributions this year today.

Regarding Synder, a stopped clock is right twice a day.

And Harry will be known as Mr. YAC around here. Yards after catch.

He reminds me of a taller, stronger David Givens with exquisite body control. Givens was a better blocker, though. Presumably Harris will improve in that area.

His ability to fill in as slot and work ST helped him leap frog a more explosive option at WR like Parris Campbell.

Good call on special teams. I'm sure that did give him a leg up but I'm still concerned about him separating. I hadn't compared him to Givens because he's so much larger but I can see the parallel.

I wrote a long post in the main forum on Harry but 4.53 is plenty fast enough at his size. His game isn't being a burner.

People don't mention that Deandre Hopkins ran a 4.57 or Michael Thomas ran a 4.58. Keenan Allen ran a 4.7. It hasn't affected any of them because they win with their size, hands, good body control and smooth route running. Harry has all those skills in spades.

It's not the 4.53 speed. I think that's plenty fast for a measurable given his size and said so in my post. It's that he doesn't gain separation as often as I'd like. He can develop techniques to gain it. That could be through scheme as well. That's why I mention Moss because although Randy had great speed he also recognized leverage and often in double coverage got himself open not by using his speed.

Michael Irvin didn't have great speed but he had subtle tricks and really understood leverage. Larry Fitzgerald doesn't have outstanding speed especially now but understands defensive concepts and how to get open.

At this point Harry makes a lot of circus catches with defenders draped all over him. If he can understand the route concepts and run routes the way Malcolm Mitchell or David Givens did he'll be fine. If he's going to completely rely on his athleticism I have concerns.

EDIT: BTW Keenan Allen is probably a pretty good comp for Harry. At this point at least he doesn't have Thomas's savvy in finding the hole in a zone or Hopkins ability to slide between coverage. He does however have the lift and hands to do what Hopkins does in the RZ.

Rewatched a few of his interviews. There's something about him that reminds me of Willie. Loved how humble and happy he seemed.

Huh, I consider blocking a strength of Harry's and one of the reasons he's a good fit. He's certainly active and willing, plus exceptionally strong.

Day 1 Thought:
- What a DL class this was, we knew this for a while (Bosa, Williams, Ferrell, Oliver, Gary, Wilkins, Lawrence, Tillery, Sweat, Burns)
- Best fit:
- Biggest Reach: Ferrell, Jones, Lindstrom, Savage, Howard
- Biggest Steal: Sweat, Baker
- Predicted bust: Murray...simply too small, Robin Roberts would look bigger under center
- Although NYG is a mess with no clear direction, they added 3 players I absolutely love in Jones (reach), Lawrence (perhaps a reach), and Baker...I won't knock them
- Safest pick: Quinnen Williams
- Haskins and Sweat quite the haul for WSH in Day 1
- Plenty of good WRs, TEs, and DBs left for tonight
- Assuming NE goes keeps their 5 picks, I'd realistically love them to address WR (2? Ridley? Boykin?), TE (2? Smith? Sternberger?), DE (Allen? Winovich? Polite?), OG, and S...Maybe QB if Grier or Stidham is available

Day 3 names to monitor: Bryce Love, RB, Stanford; Gary Jennings, WR, WVU; David Sills V, WR, WVU; Hunter Renfrow, WR, Clemson; Isaac Nauta, TE, UGA; Mitch Hyatt, OG, Clemson; Beau Benschwazel, OG, Wisconsin; Johnathan Ledbetter, DE, UGA; Will Harris, S, BC; Jaquon Johnson, S, Miami
BUT I'm expecting a trade UP tonight and perhaps even a deal for a vet (Sanu?)

I figure there's gonna be a run on CBs early.

TEs - obviously Irv and Jace(take them both even)
S - Thornhill
QB can wait til Day 3 but wouldnt be surprised if they take by boy Thorson
DL - Renell Wren
Edge - Winovich
RB - Montgomery
Lastly I am still holding out hope for Deebo!

I told y’all that Savage was the best safety. Sure enough, he was the first DB off the board.

Gruden loves hard-nosed football players. Boom.

The Giants have had an amazing draft.

Something tells me Fant is the next superstar TE.

I wasn’t a fan of the Harry pick. He’s horizontally and vertically challenged (lacks side to side quickness as well as straight speed and hops), so what does he give you? Good hands for sure. I just don’t know about the value.

I agree with you, but seems we're in the minority...probably could have traded down BUT got their guy and then some...I like it...a lot

$10 says Metcalf goes in the first three picks of round 2

I don't like the pick but I also don't think there was a market to trade down as noticed by the first trade being Pitt/Denver. So they could have gone Ed Oliver and rolled the dice that Jones is still there but if they really believe Jones is the man it was the correct call.

I might take that bet. There's a reason he's still around, despite the amazing athletic profile. It sounds like his attitude didn't impress in interviews.

Change from OG to LT and I am in complete, 100% agreement.

Ya, I can see the best and worst cases for Daniel Jones, but assuming he's at least in the upper half of that projection, you have to like that they got a decent QB to sit behind Manning. He'll be the rare highly drafted QB that isn't thrown to the wolves. They also get to balance the age differential for their future backfield, which I think is nice. Good to know that Jones and Barkley will both be there for a while.

Lawrence is obviously a beast and just what I would want inside for a 2-gap scheme. Since they're in a 3-4 now, it's a good fit.

Baker was very high up on my board. I never officially ranked CBs, but I thought his tape was absolutely awesome.

I didn't know about the attitude bit.

I think there's some artificial boundary between the 1st and 2nd though. Teams suddenly start thinking between pick #32 and #33 that it is then an okay time to start taking risks. Plus, I think there's a feeling that if you take a risk later, they'll be more motivated to prove everyone wrong and act well. (I could be totally making that up though).
