Sorry to interrupt what was a perfectly good pre-draft thread (The draft), but we have an actual draft to get to tonight! This is the official round 1 thread. Please DO NOT post picks until they are announced by the networks (Fox, NFLN, ESPN). Here is a summary of what we have heading into tonight:

What are your hopes and expectations tonight? Personally I hope NE gets a stud WR or TE, but would be happy with a good run stuffing Dman or future QB. I hope Bill is willing to trade up to 21 with Seattle who still needs a ton of picks. Noah Fant is the guy that I want.

Regarding the no-tipping picks request, I know we have few non-US posters and others who can only access the draft via the web, and therefore don’t know when Bozo actually announces them. Perhaps we have an official “pick poster” designee who is going to watch the entire 1st round on TV and who can then post the pick/trade, thus letting everyone else know when things are free to discuss openly?

Didn't catch a single newsclip of the draft last season. Kinda excited to watch the draft today.

11 25 means allready tomorrow morning here...

I go for Fant...

I would just go to sleep and wake up in the morning when the Pats pick. I'm not trying to be funny, but it's not worth it to your body.

I think BB will trade up to Seattle's #21 and grab TE Noah Fant - if he's still there.

Hate it’s on a Thursday night now. I’d usually watch the whole first round in anticipation for the Patriots pick. Not gonna happen when I’m up at 4:30 for work.

Fant, AJ Brown, Tillery, Simmons, and a few others would make me smile.

A trade back to the 2nd and adding a high pick next year would be hard to criticize.

A QB tonight would cause my sphincter to explode.

I think it should be fine as long as it’s from a legitimate web source. I really meant it for folks who have access to the picks from random twitter accounts, etc.

You may be one of the lucky ones. One minute before the Patriot's time expires,
they will trade the pick.

Amazing idea! Wish we would have discussed this earlier to organize it.

This admonition is never going to make any sense, and people aren't going to follow it as a result.

As a follow up, the NFL is apparently wielding its influence in an effort to prevent reporters from leaking picks. So this may end up as a non-issue.

How would posters know before they announce on a network? The first announcement anyone hears is broadcast live on a network, yes?

It’s a given that the NFL has instructed its in-house reporters and broadcast partners not to tip picks during the draft. That continues to be a good practice, because the audience doesn’t want to know who the pick will be until the Commissioner walks to the stadium, gets booed, and announces it.

But the league has taken the directive to the next level. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, both NFL Network, which will televise the draft, and ESPN, which along with sister network ABC will televise it as well, have informed their reporters to not report the identity of the first overall pick in the 2019 draft.

NFLN, ESPN reporters have been told not to report the first overall pick

No. Twitter's been ahead of the actual broadcasts for a while now.

Good luck getting everyone to cooperate on that and not post any spoilers.

A terrific example of why am I constantly sitting in my office LOLing to myself when I get on this website.
Shirley you can't be serious!

No, in the past, posters would have access to the picks before they are announced via twitter. The agents, NFL insiders, etc. would release the pick before Goodell announces...not sure if it's a problem anymore though.
