The draft

Agree. Taking a safety with 32nd would be a far too early especially there are many interesting prospects including Savage or Thornhill waiting on day 2 or 3. If I roll the dice and point out one particular player taken with 32nd pick it would be Abram.

I think Abram is too much of a box safety and Thornhill and Savage are both potential first rounders. Both are getting some late first round love at this late point in the process. It that’s the thing with this draft class, there’s not much dividing this class from about 25-50.

I’m thinking that you’re right and that CB is an area that is addressed either Thursday or Friday. I just think that WR is too. They’ve got the capital, they’ve got the (more than) obvious need, and I think there are some quality WRs out there. Just my opinion.

As far as CB goes, I believe that there’s a need there, too. Sure, JMac looked pretty good and was something of a SB hero, but there’s not really anything behind him. If either Gilmore or McC go down, things get dicey very quickly, and that’s not even bringing up the idea for 2020 and beyond. As much as we all hope that Dawson works out, there’s no reason to think that he’s going to be the answer. At least not yet.

If anyone complains tonight, they are jumping the gun. I’m not going to start judging too much until after Friday night, when we’re through 3 full rounds.

Absolutely. It’s still possible to get a couple of good quality WRs and a TE between pick 64 and 101.

Assuming there will not be any trades I would take AJ Brown or N'Keal Harry.
I would be very excited with either player at #32, although I think Brown may be gone by then. You might hear some groaning that Harry was selected a bit too early, but he may actually be the one that I prefer. That said, that 6’5” kid from Iowa State who can play both outside + in the slot looks like a nice pickup, too.

Imagine if they double dipped in like, the first 3-4 rounds? Wow. Trying not to get my hopes up because we have several pressing needs to address, but that would be something.

I would love to get Fant so much more than any WR in this draft. To me a good TE is worth so much more than WRs these days.

But BB knows best how to build a roster and I am sure they have a good vision for what they want the 2019 team to look like. So I am just here for the ride..

I’d be good with Fant. No doubt about that. I just question giving up what it would take to do so, and wonder if there may be more value in taking someone in the 2nd/3rd/even 4th. I suppose we could make that argument with many positions, though.

Like you said, I’m just here for the ride. That said, I reserve the right to pile on the complaining train if things aren’t looking too hot after rounds 3-4. I’m mostly joking. Okay, I’m half-joking.

To be clear Abram wouldn't be my personal choice at this pick. I just have a feeling BB will take him :)

A question for you guys who have a greater understanding of this game than I. How realistic is Dawson at being moulded to play S or what are the expectations for him at this point???

looking around...there is someone who project Fant at 32 for us...

that would be great BUT i think if BB wants him we have to trade up...

Fant is really for me the best choice round 1

let's see...

Doug Kyed says he keeps hearing that the Patriots love Joejuan Williams

File under fwiw

If you get a chance, watch him against Miles Boykin (Notre Dame) or against Ole Miss.

I have no problem getting another good corner but in the second?
What's the thinking here?
Gilmore Jackson Williams I feel we need to address the age at both safety spots.
I wonder if we can count on Obi to play meaningful snaps?

I think Williams would be a situational receiver. He’d go up against move TEs and bigger stronger WRs. He’d be a bit like Brandon Browner.

Ok good to know, Patriots definitely won’t be selecting Williams now. Have they ever drafted someone they were reportedly interested in?

Oooooooooooooooooo. Well, I'm sold. Draft the beast. I'll feel bad for Ian if we select a tackle and a corner to start the draft lol.

Thinking of putting up a thread titled "Waited The Whole 1st Round-BB Trades Out"....I mean, just for the teeth gnashing and cliff diving theater that will ensue if he does...

I want Jeffrey Simmons.

I'm not staying up til 11:30PM just to see us trade out of the 1st that's for sure

Jerod Mayo was a name that kept coming up

I’m still not over Belichick taking Richards in the 2nd. I couldn’t fathom it then and still can’t.
