Pats re-sign Josh Gordon

Not sure if this factors into this discussion, but am mindful of during the Deflategate BS, Gordon was serving a simultaneous suspension... the difference was the Roger Goody Goody allowed Gordon to practice with the Browns, while #12 could not enter the Pats Facilities..

Is there a difference between mental health issues, verifiable addictions and personal conduct that inflicts bodily harm on others??

I appreciate you finding this but it still doesn't tell us what test he failed. Anyone have anything on that part of the equation.

And if he DOES come back, what will be the conditions. Drug tests every day or what? It must suck to be in that kind of situation where eating a sesame seed bagel can create a positive that ends you career. Now THAT's pressure.
That I don't know but I thought I read somewhere it was pot but not 100% sure

This guy can be a monster if he goes through a full TC with the Pats. His personal journey is far more important, of course, but I'm hoping he can play. He showed last season he still has what it takes to be a very good player.

his last suspension lasted over a season..right? Can someone explain how he might be back for training camp?

Goody is mellowing in his old age???

Sometimes Article 46 can help us.

Because there is not clear timeline or rules when it comes to his situation.

He needs to be reinstated which he either applied for already or will before camp. If he gets reinstated he will at some point get a specific suspension for a set amount of games (some of which he already sat last year) but this does not affect his availability during camp / preseason.

He wont finish the season, statistically we know this.

Hes good for depth. Gotta keep the posistion in mind though.
Do you know if BB is aware that he won't finish the season? I bet he would've appreciated your insight into this before they resigned him.

And which of Gordon, DT and Edelman would that be?

Dude, go back and read his original post. The guy mentioned 2 rookie WRs and Fant.

Goodell had no choice in the Gordon matter. The parameters and logistics of substance abuse suspensions are explicitly written into the CBA and so Article 46 is inapplicable. And the CBA says that in substance abuse suspensions the suspended player is allowed to practice, be around the team, etc. (Presumably because (correctly, IMHO) it is considered better for the mental health and outcome of the abuser to be able to be around his team than be isolated.)

Gordon--Edelman--Demaryious--Gronkowski--Fant--Marquise Brown--Andy Isabella--Dorsett

Brady is going to have plenty of people to throw to in the Super Bowl.

So we have
Gordon - played 17/32 games last 2 season due to massive drug issues
Edelman - 33y played 12/32 games last 2 seasons due to injury/PEDS. Ironically JG has been more available than him
Thomas - ended season with torn achillies
Gronk - retired because his body was breaking down.
Fant/Brown/Isabella - rookies that aren't even on the team
Dorsett - Hey finally someone with no issues! :D

So basically,

Realistic upside: Greatest receiving corp ever assembled. Note this is even before bringing up James White. Brady could have potentially 4 top-10 targets to be throwing to:cool:.

Realistic downside: Pats hold open tryouts at Gillette to see who will be WR2 after Dorsett

I don’t think the Pats can hold onto all those WRs plus Slater. Isabella or Brown will get practice squaded from that list, which seems like a waste.

Well one things for sure they are Depending on Flash Gordon which makes me breathe a sigh on relief. Edelman a healthy Thomas and a clean Gordon...throw in a Rook or Two. Suddenly our WR outlook is not so bad.

Has any other player been suspended this many times and kept coming back? I wonder where you go after you reach and serve the 1 year suspension.

I cannot think of anyone that has lasted this long. Josh has perseverance.

The person asking me had implied that bill knew, not me. Thanks though
