Looks like to me he was too worried about getting in bounds. I don’t think he would have been even if he did catch it.

Jarvis Green IMO had the best opportunity to end the game on that Tyree play. I wonder if he let up on Manning expecting the ref to blow the play dead for in the grasp...

I think his best chance was to bat it, keep it in the air and snag it before the receiver.

He had a shot and tried, but I think the Welker drop was much worse. But Wes tried on that one too.

They were as dominant as a lot of games show.

First 10 weeks were utter domination save for the 24-20 win on the road against a 7-0(13-3) Colts team in a game that I remember being hyped as a SB 41.5

This was followed by 2 down weeks.
31-28 win over the Eagles, where the Eagles knew they were so overmatched the resorted to surprise onside kick
27-24 win over the Ravens that they probably should have lost. Offense slowed by very windy conditions

Then a 34-13 beatdown of the Steelers
And a 20-10 win over the Jets in the snow.

After that was a 28-7 demolition of the Dolphins... that wasn't as close as the score indicates. The Patriots literally spent the 2nd half toying with the Dolphins. Brady threw 2 2nd half interceptions trying to force record breaking TDs to Moss.

Then a 38-35 win over eventual SB winner Giants on the road on a short week(game was Sat night).

So people like to talk about how the Patriots declined at the end, but overall it was really only 2 bad games(which they won), and those were more toward the middle anyway.

This picture has been posted around for quite a while now but it sums up the season pretty well.



Sure as the season went on the team wasn't as dominant as it was in the beginning but I firmly believe that it was the most talented team since 2000, which unfortunately means absolutely nothing because the team didn't win in the end. It's like the Warriors going 73-9 in 2015-16, no one cares because they blew a 3-1 lead.

#1: 2007 New England Patriots (3.37)
#2: 2018 Kansas City Chiefs (3.25)
#3: 2018 New Orleans Saints (3.21)
#4: 2016 Atlanta Falcons (3.06)
#5: 2011 Green Bay Packers (3.05)

Despite the fact that NFL has been slowly evolving into an offense league over the years, 2007 Patriots still ranked #1 in points per drive. Moss and Brady were unconscious that year.

I don't know if people remember the pocket maneuvering Brady made on that play, but it was pretty impressive... and then he ripped off what seemed like the deepest/strongest pass I've ever seen out of him. Seems like randy could've slowed slightly for a contest/possible DPI.

This actually makes me feel better. Would have been extremely difficult even if he were at the peak of his jump....but “close but not quite picks” like that happen many times during the game. It just feels worse because Eli sucks so bad that not only did he throw it right to Samuel, he also threw it way too high.

Alford picking off Brady (instead of the squirrel shoe catch) would have been an easier INT than that.

Sometimes momentum - that weird force that’s hard to define - just happens and everyone is a momentary pawn.

I’ll never get over this game.

Asante was also daydreaming when Eli threw up a prayer to Tyree and left Rodney Harrison out to dry which unfairly takes the blame for. Can’t pay a guy big bucks for that. I didn’t miss him one bit when he left for the Eagles.

2007, start of the season, they were unstoppable. Then I remember Brady saying in an interview, something to the effect (I'm paraphrasing). Every time we go out there, we try to kill teams. And I remember thinking (actually cringing), keep that crap in the locker room, amongst your teammates, don't say that to the press. And oddly enough, after that very game (I think they put up 50+ against the Bills), teams started playing very tight games against the Pats. Personally, that comment he made, and the laugh after some Giants said they would hold the Pats to under 20, I wish he was more silent about it, but hey, that was just me. That Super Bowl was a disaster, and every missed opportunity, like the THREE dropped INTs on the Giant's last drive, was just like a dagger to the heart. I remember being in a fog for 2 weeks after that loss.

2015, I've never seen so many KEY injuries. The fact the Pats ALMOST made it to SB 50 was truly a testament to what a good team that was. I believe 3 Olinemen from SB 49 were on the IR, both starting RBs (Blount & Lewis), just too many injuries to list. That was a heartbreaking year as well, because it would've been great to see how well this team would've played if they hadn't lost so many players.

Flying under the radar in these stats is how the 2018 Chiefs was an all-timer offense and the Pats beat them twice, including in their house. Beating New England on a neutral field like NY did is impressive, but it's not like they went into Foxborough.

The 2018 title will be remembered by the casual fan as a "boring" SB, but really the SB was in KC, making this latest title run one of the most impressive of the 6.

The 07 Patriots were mindbogglingly good, until as many have said, they picked the wrong time to lose 1 game.

That game, and Brady's subsequent death in 08 and resurrection in 09 (which, coincidentally, Bradians celebrate this Sunday) marked the end of a dynasty.

Good thing they loaded up another one after the second Giants loss. Otherwise, I mean, being a Pats fan would be like being a 90s Cowboys fan.

This way it's like being an 80s 49ers fan (in addition, not instead of.)

God we're freakin spoiled.

My recollection of the 2007 team is that the games got closer as the season went on. In the last regular season game the Giants went all out to stop the Pats even though they had nothing to gain. They were a wildcard team no matter what. I had a lot of respect for them for doing that and it probably helped them when they played the Pats in the SB.
