LT Trent Brown is gone, too. He was a key part of the OL that only allowed 21 sacks all year.

I agree with your point about having the potential to reload, although losing all of Brown, Gronk, and Flowers in the same year may prove to be a bigger challenge than some are expecting. They’ve got to have a decent draft.
...or make some trades

Some serious talent walked out the door

Pat has really made the most of his second chance, and congrats to him

Also BB realising he didn’t play him in his best position when he had his first stint here!

The exact opposite of the “arrogant BB” portrayed in the media.

12 draft picks plus 6 of last year's IR'd rookies......Lot's of ammo to find a few diamonds to contribute ( Wynn,Bentley,Dawson) ...I like the Patriot's chances.....

The only BB era NEP player drafted from Oregon to my knowledge.

I figured he was camp competition fighting for one of the final roster spots when we re-signed him back in 2014. He's been fantastic ever since.

Need 2 draft WRs.

Last time that was tried we got Boyce, Dobson and Thompkins.

This roster is returning Gostkowski, McCourty and Chung now? We pretty much have the same team minus Flowers, Hogan, and Gronk.

I think we can really make a strong push again if we have a decent draft day. And with 12 picks, we've got the ammo to reload!

I can visualize a Pats and Team X draft day trade for a Vet WR to the Pats.

Middle of the road to Hogan type guy deal that flies under the radar.

Can Chung play a little at wide receiver?

Miguel is going to give you guys the correct numbers but they should be close to:

2019: $5,058,333
2020: $5,908,333 + 600k
2021: $3,708,333 + 600k

I don't know if (incentives) they are NTBE or LTBE

Good news.

Such a good deal for a top 15, maybe 10, strong safety. He might decline over the course of the contract but as long as he's useful that money will be justified.

Glad he got paid as he has been a big cog in our championship defense. Surprised a bit given his age, size and pounding he takes in his role of close safety coverage. I think the Patriots are rewarding Chung who will play for the team than throw money at a wide receiver that gets cut anyway. I would much rather give the money to Chung than a washed up name receiver.

Does this change our available money this year?

Per Miguel, we now have $15,391,305.

The Chung extension used up less than $400K of the available cap space.

Old dependable Chung. Definitely one of the toughest guys to ever play in NE.

Pats HOF worthy.

The Chung extension is great news and well deserved.

What I find interesting is that both Chung’s extension and Gostkowski’s contract were structured to minimize their 2019 cap hits even though that Patriots have more than enough salary cap space after Gronk’s retirement.

It makes me believe the Patriots are anticipating trading for a veteran who would take up a good deal of cap space. Or, they are anticipating a certain $9 million cap charge to reappear on their books at some point.
