Maroney split the job almost equally with Dillon in 2006 became the #1 rb in 2007 remained the #1 through 2009 missing most of 2008 with an injury.
That is quite a while. In any event while you want to hide behind semantics at least you admitted that you were wrong and maroney was in fact a #1 rb.

I don't think it is a great signing but better than nothing at this time. He has to make the team. Lots can happen before the season starts.

In BB I Trust.

One again you post a stat that you do y even understand, misuse it, and it isn’t even from the time of reference.
Next you will blame aliens.

You guys are bickering like a married couple, get a divorce and end it.

Dillion was ranked 5th
Maroney was ranked 57th

Maroney had a total of 14 NE career starts.
Sony Michel already has 8 NE starts as a rookie # 1 RB who was injured.

Only a fool would keep banging the drum that Maroney was a #1 NFL RB.

These are facts.

57th ranked #1 running back.

You just cant make up how funny this is.

The fact that he's had alcohol addiction issues is actually good news. It is a clear factor that's been holding him back, physically and emotionally, because that's what addictions do, to every facet of a person's life. So IF it gets fixed, it provides an immediate, tangible window for his performance to improve significantly. Guys can spend whole offseasons at special camps working on their physical ability and have nothing close to the upside that can come out of shaking off an addiction.

That, plus the fact that he'll now get better coaching, be given more specific roles, be coming in to a position that's wide open, and work with the GOAT at QB, and there is a little more promise in this than the average JAG signing.

Never really understood this one.

Couldn’t it suggest a player with a higher value might be a guy who the QB only throws to on rare occasion when more glaringly open, and isn’t trusted in tight coverage. Meanwhile, a lower value guy could be one who the QB can rely on to make a more highly contested catch?

“On all pass routes.” Still, I wouldn’t read too much into it.

Dillion was ranked 5th
Maroney was ranked 57th
Dillon was not ranked 5th and the stat you are talking about has nothing to do with the role of the player and their place on the depth chart.
Maroney had a total of 14 NE career starts.

Talk about misleading. Who plays the first snap does not indicate who is the primary player at a position.

Only a fool would keep banging the drum that Maroney was a #1 NFL RB.

Who was the patriots #1 RB in 2007, at the start of 2008 before maroney was injured and in 2009? You are the fool.

As you again prove you a) don’t know what the stat means and b) can’t read because I didn’t say maroney was the #1 rb in 2006 I said he split the job almost equally with Dillon.
Dillon 214 touches
Maroney 197 touches

I'm so hyped about Austin Rastafarian-Jenkins !

Sacha Baron Cohen Tells Corey Lewandowski Bob Marley Was Behind Iraq War

Baron Cohen’s Ruddick continued the line of argument by pulling up a PBS logo, then showing an altered version so that it looked like one of the faces in the logo was smoking a marijuana joint.

When Lewandowski looked confused, Ruddick explained that PBS was owned by the “biggest force in politics,” the “Rastafarian lobby.”

“I wouldn’t know anything about that,” Lewandowski replied, looking bewildered.

“The Rastafarian lobby is behind a lot of the major military decisions of the last 30 years,” Ruddick explained while Lewandowski listened. “The invasion of Iraq as because the Rastafarian lobby, their leader, Gen. Robert Marley suggested that they had — they developed over 45,000 Buffalo soldiers. These dreadlocked Rastas who were marching through Africa into the heart of America, and then the plan was to take them into Iraq.”

I don’t know if that qualifies as conclusive evidence. I’ve never seen that before,” Lewandowski told him.

You gotta play the long game when it comes to binkies

You gotta play the long game when it comes to binkies

Seems that way. I recall some of the huge PatsFans draft hype being about Jabal Sheard and Cordarelle Patterson. Those aren’t the only two, but they stood out to me because the Pats waited to buy while their stock was low.

Anyone criticizing the move - not Jenkins problems or lack of productivity - is being Felger-level stupid, sorry.

Nah. What's Felger-level stupid is your comment on the issue. I've got nothing against the move, because I don't see any real downside. But, then again, I don't take it as a moral affront (or pretend to it as a take moral affront) when players with non-football character issues are signed by football teams. Others, however, do, and that's widely known and not restricted to Patsfans.com. So claiming
Don't really understand the negativity here
is either the height of ignorance or a lie.

it's a great move. Even if nothing comes of it, given the present circumstances, it's a great move.

Bringing in a stiff, or even a JAG, is not a great move. It's just the bringing in of a stiff/JAG, in this case with baggage. It's the same crappy/routine, chuck a dart at the board move that teams make all the time. Now, if the stiff morphs into a player, you've got a win, and you can then say "What was a crap/routine move turned into a great move" and pretend that there was magical insight into why that particular stiff/JAG was going to make it when so many others did not, but where nowhere near that right now.

So, once a year, do you go outside and have a burning man ceremony with your strawmen?

Ps. I'll stand by my post.

ASJ is at least as likely to be as good THIS YEAR as a draft choice at that position (look at the history of rookies at TE - prove me wrong).

THIS YEAR. Just this year. He's a security blanket. He makes minimum, costs them no draft pick in the comp formula, and the total cost if he's cut is 50K...nothing.

To me, a pick-up like this means that after they get the TE they want, if there's one in particular, when they get to the second one, they can pass if there's someone else they like better at another position.

This is literally a no-lose situation, unless you consider $50 a travesty.

So yes, and tough toenails, I think it's a great move and I'm glad they did it. Options options options.

He played pretty well his first half dozen games in 2017 including a game against the Pats then seemed to really slow down. Not sure if it was injuries or what but he appeared to be serviceable in the few games I watched him play. I know nothing about LaCosse but I assume he is the current TE lead based on what he was signed for.
