I like this, but do remember: he has not eclipsed 357 receiving yards in a season. He’s a bit overhyped.
Joe, the man caught 50 passes while playing for the JETS! I repeat.....the JETS. So there is some potential there, ;)

The bad news: His career receiving yards in 43 games would be Gronk’s third best individual season.

The worse news: It took ASJ 6 seasons, 96 possible games, to play those 43.

But at minimum salary, oh well.

The Jags have a history of letting players go after seemingly being not worth a roster spot, then they go onto to have great success elsewhere. That’s probably what will happen here. #becausejaguars

I wouldn't have liked it. Very expensive caphit. I would guess we will have 2,3 solid not flashy guys at TE that are cheap and TE does not become a huge part of our offense.
I presume this rules out a trade for someone like Cameron Brate, at least for now.

He played with really crappy QBs.

JAG fills a need though. Hopefully we find better in the draft but if not you got someone to compete with the other JAGs.

Meh. Whatever.

Less than exciting addition to a position group where everyone else would consider less than exciting a nice complement.

He was released by the Jaguars after not picking up his 2nd year option. Doesn't that make him exempt from compensatory consideration?

I think 'not picking up his option' makes him a free agent eligible for compensation (remember Darrell Revis?), but since he signed for minimum salary, the point is moot.

Better than nothing

But that’s about it

I like it, he's shown some potential in the NFL. I wouldn't mind bringing back the Hoo Man too to at least bring to camp.

Plenty of character question marks. I think he’s insurance against not drafting a top TE in the draft, or one that doesn’t get up to speed by the start of the season. And in that context, I’m fine with the signing. Hopefully though, there’ll be a Dawson Knox or Jace Sternberger etc that makes this signing irrelevant.

I was going to say this same thing. If Hockenson or Fant aren't available, this move guards against that. I still think the Pats draft Jace Sternberger.

Apparently minimum salary, so won't count against the compensatory picks.

It's nice that a player finally picked us over another team this offseason.

Knox is my TE3 in this draft but I think it’ll be Sternberger too. And with ASJ’s blocking, not a bad combination.

Wow this is a bit of a surprise. I really liked him coming out of college, though his career thus far has been pretty much a disappointment. I'm betting the price is under $3MM and he STILL has to make the team to get it.

Certainly worth a shot and takes a little pressure off having to hit on a TE in the draft. And lets face it, that Pats have and will have a TON of 3rd day picks in the next 2 drafts, losing a comped 6th isn't a bother.

BTW good get by Yates. First I've seen on this

We have a system. The teams he’s been with don’t. I mean, we even design plays
