Hurts compensatory picks?

Like it, even if it isn't successful.

The 2nd best available FA TE talent wise. Good player that has had off the field problems & dealt with poor QB play. I’m a fan of him on a 1 year deal at 26 years old. ASJ has some Trent Brown potential here with a productive season & cashing in elsewhere next year.

Good signing. Pair him with one of the top rookie TEs.

He has all-world potential, but been a tub-rider forever.

Worth the shot. I'm guessing minimum guarantees and wouldn't begin to guess the odds of him making the team. True roll of the dice here.

Fills one of the 2 open TE slots. Solid signing.

Wow this is a bit of a surprise. I really liked him coming out of college, though his career thus far has been pretty much a disappointment. I'm betting the price is under $3MM and he STILL has to make the team to get it.

Certainly worth a shot and takes a little pressure off having to hit on a TE in the draft. And lets face it, that Pats have and will have a TON of 3rd day picks in the next 2 drafts, losing a comped 6th isn't a bother.

BTW good get by Yates. First I've seen on this

I mean a 6th round pick woulda been nice

Sure, but there’ll be chances to get one through trading in the draft. I’d rather have some degree of insurance at TE this year than a 6th rounder next. I think that’s the better value personally.

but can he block?

I presume this rules out a trade for someone like Cameron Brate, at least for now.

I like this, but do remember: he has not eclipsed 357 receiving yards in a season. He’s a bit overhyped.

Plenty of character question marks. I think he’s insurance against not drafting a top TE in the draft, or one that doesn’t get up to speed by the start of the season. And in that context, I’m fine with the signing. Hopefully though, there’ll be a Dawson Knox or Jace Sternberger etc that makes this signing irrelevant.

Crap signing.

Hopefully they'll get lucky with it, though.

They gave a 5th for O'Shaughnessy that never made it through TC.
Never married to the picks while always acquiring them ..
Hogan, Shelton, John can still bring a low rounder back, even McClellan (although i hope they bring him back).

This does mean IMO that UFA signings are over until they lose another one of their own or after the May deadline..

EDIT: being reportedly a min vet deal it wont count anyway..

He was released by the Jaguars after not picking up his 2nd year option. Doesn't that make him exempt from compensatory consideration?
