Question: Are there any corresponding/complementary skills between a baseball catcher and archetypical perfect quarter back? I don't see it. But I don't know much about baseball (or football really)

Absolutely. Catchers are very much involved with in-game management. Calling pitches, communicating defensive shifts/alignments, and just having an overall situational awareness on what’s taking place on the field.

Definitely. The impact is far less, but catcher is the closest thing to a quarterback type position that a baseball team has.

I'd say two things:

a.) Understanding the game and making pitch calls vs. reading D's on the football field.

b.) Instantly throwing guys out at 2nd base vs. instantly processing through your reads then throwing the ball on a football field.
