The fan base has jokes now that they’ve signed LeVeon Bell.
The fan base has always had plenty of jokes... really sad, awful smelling jokes.

JF79 seems like a decent dude considering, so I'll cut him some slack.

I hope you didn't waste too much time thinking of this..

Not at all. No worries.

Relax and enjoy the offseason. If you can't make fun of 80 year old billionaires getting happy endings in a strip mall... what has this country come to?

Too many Rutgers guys on this team, all of them long tenured veterans, their experience and knowledge in the NFL would be greater than Schiano's. Plus, all the Rugers boys are now Steve Belichick's boys now. It would have been awkward between their yesteryear teacher Schiano and all the Rutger's boys, if they feel they are more up to speed than their master.
This makes me wonder if Sciano had an issue with Steve cause you're right, they are his guys now. Also, he probably didn't want to deal with nepotism because it sucks, I know.

Has anyone considered the possibility that like the proverbial broken clock Ben Volin was right reporting that Bret Bielema is the DC or de facto DC and he and Schiano had a conflict which led to Schiano’s resignation?

We just all assumed Schiano was going to be the senior defensive assistant. But, Bielema has actually been in the organization for a year and basically is as accomplished a coach as Schiano having been the HC of programs in the SEC and Big Ten.

The vagueness of his statement leads me to believe Schiano was unhappy with his role.

So he used the "focus faith and family" as a misdirection? So now his wife, kids and himself need to have canned BS responses when asked if they are ok?

I think I read somewhere that Sciano was going to be officially named DC by Bill in the afternoon.

Regardless I’m pulling for Bret as DC, lil’ Stevie as CB Coach and lots of Mayo / LB Coach to hold it all together.

What has Biliemma accomplished?
We had rumored interest in Aaron Glenn I'd like to go outside the organization for new ideas.
However I am super comfortable with the Belichicks and Mayo holding it down alone as well.

gaining trust from BB?

The ongoing shots at Steve Belichick and nepotism are complete and utter bullsh.t. He’s been slowly working his way up through the ranks of their coaches, and anyone who knows anything about how Belichick operates definitely knows that there is no way he’s getting anything that hasn’t been earned.

The Saints already blocked the Bengals from interviewing Glenn.

Gaining BBs trust by pumping out a bunch of difference makers and starters (White, Flowers, Wise) we drafted to the point where he got hired by the Pats to help with DL and through the draft ?

Essentially the same thing Schiano did at Rutgers. Schiano developed the backbone of our DB backfield.

That right there is more valuable than anything else he could have realistically achieved in college football.

I guess the clowns that have an issue with the Beli-kids getting an opportunity to work their asses off to climb the career ladder will also have issues with essentially every other coach in the business.

Kyle Shanahan ? **** him just there because of his father. McVay ? Just there because of his connections with the Gruden family.

Anyone thinking that BB is not harder on his two sons than anyone else on the staff is pretty naive.

BB had a radio thing with Coach K where he confirmed that Schiano was to be the DC. It got taped very recently and details started to leak about this the morning before Schiano resigned. So that is definitely not it.

Honestly, I get that we are once again in a dead time when it comes to football but do we really need all those conspiracy theories ?

BB wanted to have Schiano here which is a better reason to hire him than anyone around here could give to not hire him. He left because of something family related at a very opportune time relatively speaking. End of story.

Why would we go get outside ideas? We already have the best ideas which would make different ideas worse.

For what it's worth.
Paraphrasing a caller on the Squeaky and the Douche show.....

My best friend is a DA at Ohio State and more **** is about to hit the fan involving Meyer and Schiano

Head scratcher: 'DA at Ohio State' ?
More likely: Bitter Michigan clown spreading crap.

Happy to assist in the crap spreading process

Couldn’t agree more. And I would be willing to bet that Steven Belichick is going to end being a really good coach be it unit, coordinator, or HC someday. Some people just have to hate. They must not have anything better to do.

1) Someone needs to develop the defensive game plan. Steve can probably be elevated to db coach. As you say, the players are experienced, and on the field play calls and coordination isn't an issue.

2) Mayo will be fine as LB coach with almost all experienced players: Hightower, Van Noy and Roberts. Bentley will be fine with some coaching from Mayo, and through working with the others.

3) In addition to the play-calling, we also have a need at DL coach. Half the players will be new.

4) The patriots almost never rely on rookies in major roles. This is a great advantage. Last year, we added Bentley, Jackson and Dawson. I expect us to add at least one more veteran DL.

CB: Gilmore
CB: McCourty
CB: Jackson
DB: Jones
S: McCourty
S: Chung
S: Harmon

Might be a dumb take, but with the most experienced & arguably the most talented secondary in the league, the team could probably take a risk with elevating a coaching unknown. BB has to figure he can atleast rely somewhat on that absurd level of veteran leadership back there. Hightower & Van Noy at LB too.

If the defense was poised to have rookies & new FAs all over the place I’d be more worried.
