Greg Schiano Steps Down From DC Position

Lol really hope all is well with him

What sold me on him was the fact that BB was sold on him. So I think it has to be considered a setback.
I suppose so. I got a slight impression that he wasn't particularly liked by some of his players. You can be a hard ass like Bill but he still has respect of his players and is relatable to them.

I'm not sure the same can be said for Schiano.

Please define what a "Normal" offseason is....

How do you not know what he means? We’ve clearly had some pretty drama/controversial offseasons in recent years compared to most teams.

If Fraser were to be made the CB coach, would you move SBeli to the D-line? Or have different coaches for the Safeties and for the CBs?

I don't think there is anything wrong with SBeli staying safeties coach. CB or DL might look like a more glamorous title but I think in reality it is easy to get stuck there in a niche and in both cases it seems to be you really want people there who can teach fundamentals and technique a lot.

But that is my personal opinion and might be totally off. Either way I am not particularly concerned about any of those things. The only thing I am not a huge fan of is having BB playcall the defense because he is awesome at managing the big picture as HC. More pressure on Joe Judge and McDaniels than ever before.

Not disagreeing because I don't know what players you talk about but the local Rutgers group seemed to like him well. You had players in Detroit whining because Patricia made them run more than ever before. I think he would have fit here.

Well that's just weird. The timing of it plus the "spend more time with my family" excuse makes me think something is going to come out about him in the very near future and it's not going to be good. Maybe someone found evidence of the prior claims made about him being part of the Penn State coverup.

I think Bielema is the most likely choice, possibly serving as a de facto DC like Patricia and Flores. There are really no experienced defensive coaches, other than Steve B, and I doubt he is ready for the jump to DC yet. Good to see Mayo in the picture, probably as LB coach. Still need a D line coach to replace Daly.

True. Obviously we all heard Bennett trashing him but I thought I read one of the Pats players discussing him. Possibly Harmon? Reading between the lines with what he was saying there wasn't the "he's a great coach, we're happy to have him" line. He seems to be a hardass with not much to show for it.

But I could be wrong and the person I'm referencing isn't Harmon but some random player.

Cool of him not to write it on a napkin 'I Resign As DC Of NEP - G.S.'

Zion Williamson for DC AND TE?? :D

I suspect someone will be promoted from within in a de facto role, but if the Patriots do interview I'd love to see them try to hire Jay Rodgers away from the Bears as a DL coach + DC.

Bret Bielema. Come on down! Wtf is going on this off season? Crazy ****!

Can we have a normal offseason for once? It's beyond ridiculous at this point

So far this is a fairly normal off-season. Quiet FA period, a few guys left for pay, and an Out-of-Left-Field departure.

Seems tome we are right on track.

It's been everything, but normal.

Still better than our 2013 offseason.
