Gronk to retire

For all Gronk has done for the organization and the community he has MORE than earned the right to make his retirement decision at any time he wanted to. It is an extremely difficult decision for a pro athlete and we should cut him some major slack regarding the timing of his announcement.

Gronk is 100% not replaceable. No one tight end in the FA or draft will come to close to giving the team what Gronk did. So I think its time to recalibrate expectations around TE position.
TE will not be a major factor in Pats offense this year. Strategic revision is critical for McDaniels.

Gronk was as much fun to hear speak as he was to watch play.

I already miss him.

Good luck Gronk and thanks for the memories.

I doubt he’s retiring per se. I think he’s giving his body a rest for a while.

Offence depth chart looking a bit grim right now.

Let's assume this hasn't come as a surprise to BB & co and they've been planning for life after Gronk all along but didn't fancy anyone in FA. Surely we've got to trade for a replacement? Of course no one can replace Gronk but a trade has to be better than hoping we can land a good prospect in the draft.

Loved his TD against the colts!! He has so many epic moments!

Lol so after claiming he was the greatest TE, Sharpe ended up saying that he would let Gronk have it, as the GOAT (for the day since he just retired). LMAO, Harrison was there looking at him like he was a Martian (Harrison voted for Tony). :p

I saw Rosenhaus was saying a mid-2019 return is possible?
Rosenhaus is depressed over loss of commission. Gronk made him a lot of mula. :D

Great article in The Athletic by Jeff Howe about how Gronk was an even better person off the field.
My cousin was a Dr of PT at Children's Hospital. She looked after the kids/teenagers that were in bad car accidents, paralyzed, had brain surgery, needed strength training due to chemo, etc.

I want to say around Dec 2016 (when he was IRd) she was working and on a early evening around 630pm security called up and said a Patriots player wanted to stop by. It was him.

Unannounced. No cameras. No brothers. Just him.

Thats Gronk.

Gronk's theme:

'My candle burns at both ends
It will not last the night
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends—It gives a lovely light!' -- Edna St. Vincent Millay

I remember his first (low thrown) catch at Buffalo(?) I thought, “man, this guy got good hands!”

I remember his first catch in pre-season, he dragged six defenders about 20 yards, he came up just short of the end zone. We all new he was something special, a freak of nature. D-backs all over the country are celebrating today.
